You can't do a Nikkah in person? Even if you did it through Skype and it was permitted, CIC will question the genuineness of your marriage if you choose to do it that way.

Even if immigration accepts it, as mikeymike said CIC will question the genuineness of your marriage and you are setting yourself up for a probably refusal of sponsorship application. Additionally, you should know that there are certain conditions for a Nikah to be valid in Islam, and skype, telephone Nikah's are not valid.

In principle, nikah conducted over the telephone is not permissible since it does not fulfill the criteria needed for acceptance. In order for nikah to take place, both ijaab (proposal) and qabool (acceptance) must take place in the presence of at least two witnesses. Even with the presence of witnesses, they will not be there to physically witness both the proposal and acceptance.
