Hello everyone!

I'm in Canada with my wife and we both have a work permit since February 2014. My wife has a work permit because I was sponsored from a company.
Our work permit is due on February 2016.
We would like to apply for permanent residents. What should we do? Which package of applications should we fill out?
Let us know please!!

Detailed information about Canada's immigration programs and application processes can be found here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

You will have to do quite a bit of reading and research to learn about the various programs and their criteria - and determine if you qualify to apply.

If you do not have time or would prefer not to do this research on your own, you should look into hiring an immigration lawyer or consultant to assist you.

Good luck.

Thanks! I do t mind reading at all!
But the link you gave me it's very general and after a while I get lost! It asks why do you want to come to Canada but I'm already in Canada!
So with the things I mentioned on my first post does anyone know exactly what should I do to apply for permanent residency??

Again - Canada has a number of different immigration programs. You can apply for all of them from either inside or outside of Canada - so it doesn't matter where you are. You will have to read through the requirements of each program to understand the requirements. I would recommend that you start with the Express Entry program - Federal Skilled Worker class. Again, if you're unable to do this research on your own - you should hire a consultant to assist you. We cannot tell you which program you should apply for.

It all depends on your personal circumstances. If you are here working you probably will not qualify as an Immigrant Investor, for example.

Your options may be:

1. Express Entry
You must use Express Entry if you want to apply:

- under the Federal Skilled Worker Program,
- under the Federal Skilled Trades Program,
- under the Canadian Experience Class, or
- as a provincial nominee, in some cases.

2. If you live in Quebec, then the Quebec-selected skilled workers program is for you.

The Canadian Experience Class under Express Entry may be a good fit for you if you already have 12 months of work experience in Canada. However, you could also obtain additional points for work experience in Canada under the Federal Skilled Worker Program. So you see, you need to read the information about each program and evaluate which of them will give you the best result.

All of those programs are for Permanent Residency. They may have similar or special requirements that need to be met before you apply. So, you asked what you need to do: you need to read the requirements, decide which program (or programs) under which you wish to apply and you believe you have the best chance, start working on the requirements and when you have gathered all of them together, apply by filling out your profile online on the CIC website or fill out and send out the forms with all of the required documentation, and then wait for CIC to contact you. Please note that for Express Entry, the forms are done online, but for Quebec you have to send the forms in.

Thanks again!
I don't know if I was clear but maybe I will write it again!
We are already with a work permit as skilled workers!
So we are already in a program! The next step they told us is to apply for the PR.
As a skilled worker I'd like to know which package of IMMs I should fill in!

Sorry if that wasn't clear!

Temporary resident programs and permanent resident programs are independent programs and in no way linked to each other. There is no "follow up" program to permanent resident from the temporary resident program. The only advantage you have now because you are under a work permit is that you are obtaining Canadian work experience, which will give you an edge (in points that can be given for the permanent residency programs) over those that do not have that kind of experience.
