I heard from some people that under skilled worker class, only application with a job offer gets to processed and without a job offer you would have to wait because there are so many application waiting.

Anyone has idea of how long does it take to apply under Cat 1, is it less or more than one year?

Thanks in advance.

Accourding new Ministerial instructions, if you ocupation is under new 38 list, you application could take 6-12 months, even you dont have a Job offer.

Thank you Canadp and Mahharrouf,

Right now I am drafting the reference letters for my application. Of course I will get my bosses (old and current) sign on the letters and then I will have to take the IELTS test.

Then I can send my application away. In the mean time, I am still looking for a job offer, otherwise I will just apply under Cat1

Any experience or story you wanna share with me?

Thanks and cheers,
FM

AOA everybody on the Forum

As I know of today, I have read possibly from CIC that all the applications with AEO (Arranged Employement Opinion / Job Offer ) will be processed positively irrespective ofthe ministerial list ( List of 38 Professions will not apply ) and will have 1st priority. The List on Second Priority is to be the List of applications with NOC's that fall within the Published / Announced Ministerieal List of 38 Professions without any AEO (Arranged Employement Opinion / Job Offer ).

This is what I know as of my current knowledge. Seniors are requested to correct me if I am wrong.

Always Hopeful

You are right except there is no 1st, 2nd and 3rd priority, it's called 1st, 2nd and 3rd category.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp said:
There are three categories under the Federal Skilled Worker Class:

* Category 1: For persons in an occupation which corresponds to the list of occupations identified in the Ministerial Instructions and have evidence of one year of continuous full-time (or full-time equivalent) experience in that occupation;
* Category 2: For persons who have arranged employment offer with a Canadian employer; or
* Category 3: For students or workers who are legally residing in Canada, and have done so for at least 12 months immediately before submitting their application.
You need to fit 1 of these categories and get 67 or more points to apply.

These are 2 diffrent things: categorizing and prioritizing. I think it makes sence that Applications with arranged employment offers tend to be processed faster.

We assume that those applicants are qualify (fit in 38 profession list and get 67 points or more)

It used to be back when FSW was taking years from many countries, that AEO's were prioritized but now when the aim is that all FSW are processed in 6-12 months, I don't know if AEO's are prioritized anymore. There is really not enough experience for the new rules to say for sure how long things take.
