Skilled worker but no degree

Hey guys

My name is *classified* ;D a 32year old German citizen. For the past 10 years I have worked (self employed) pretty much for the same company in the electric industry. I have been sent to different places in the world to various projects. My job is mainly programming systems and teaching staff on site. I'm working at the same level as engineers do. Although I do not have an engineering degree, the level of my job is based on my experience.
Is there any chance at all a visa application would be accepted? Is there anything I could do to rise the chances but which wouldn't take years? The place where I would go if everything works out is either British Colombia or one of the Territories.
Would it be better to apply for a temporary working visa and later on applying for a permanent one?

yes bro i would be better for u to apply for temp visa and then apply for PR visa.

doesn't matter for FSW as long as u have 67 points.

and thats the whole point. Ive done the test some time in the past and I could not reach the required points. The problem is caused mainly due to my job. I am working on single projects that last about 3 months each. Although in these 3 months I work like 90hours or more per week (but that doesnt count). Between 2 projects there might be 3 or 4 months. So in total I basically dont have enough work experience and dont get any points out of it, so in the end I dont reach the mark...

Is it possible to apply anyway if you dont have enough points and hope for an understanding officer to process your application? Is there anything else I could do?

Less than 67 points = automatic rejection.

As suggested before, try to get a job offer and come on Temp Work Permit. There are lots of Northern jobs. Check on Job Bank and look on websites of companies working in the area, send letters introducing yourself and your skills. Good Luck.

Hi there,

I'm self employed and work diff hours for diff clients meaning at the end of the day I don't come out with full time hours. This however is irrelevant when applying as a FSW as you just need to prove you have a min of 12 months work experience in your field. If the total amount of hours adds up to 12months full time work then you should be fine on that front. I've passed the eligibility stages so far and am waiting for my medical so no reason why this should set you back.

if ur are a full time or part time employee , if u r one of it then gaps in project doesnt mean any thinng, it is counted as experience

please go on cic.gc.ca, check how much points you score and degree doesnt matter as long as your points tally and your job is on noc.

But even if you score max points in all the categories, your points wont come up to 67 unless you have a relative who is canadian or if you have a diploma and forgot to mention it.

Thirdly and most important, cic has received 10,000 application this year and is not accepting applications. The quota opens 1st july 2012 and they are preparing new points system this year.

even I do not have a degree in mechanci trade category and degree in computers what do u think will VO refuse the case that my qualication does not meet the current work experience.

Refusal is when your application is accepted, if your qualification is not on the noc list you have no chance in this category.

But again please wait for july 1st 2012

I was reading about that and it says:

However, certain applications are still eligible for processing. From now until June 30, 2012, we will only consider applications:

with an offer of arranged employment, or
submitted under the PhD stream (see below) until the cap of 1000 applications is reached.

anyways, I was trying myself on the pointsystem once more:

Factor 1: Education 5 (not sure if I qualify for more, I do have 13years of school but no diploma but currently working on my PhD)
Factor 2: Ability in English and or French 20 (not sure about this either, have to take the test. dunno any french though)
Factor 3: Experience 19 (could be better, could be worse depending on how someone reads the word "equivalent")
Factor 4: Age 10 (at least something I am sure about ;D )
Factor 5: Arranged employment in Canada 10 (I have to get a job arrangement otherwise there is no point in applying before July in the first place)
Factor 6: Adaptability 5 (whats up with D here? Do I get an extra 5 points for arranged employment?)


so whatd ya think? should I try to go for it? After July 1st the system might change and I might not qualify for sure...
would you generally recommend a lawyer supporting me with that stuff?

karankonil : Well If your go through the OP6 it is clearly mention that not to take into account whether the applicant meet the employment requirments or not.
well it all depend on your job duties if it is matches then fine .
I have not applied yet will apply in aug 2012 in NOC 7216
