Hello everybody,

I'm having trouble finding results and former (recent) topics about this subject so i'm making a new one.
Please do not hesitate to link me to what you think would be relevant if i missed something :)

==============

I got issued an ItA and need to go through a document checklist to submit with my application.
As I happened to live in the US for more than 6 months, I discovered that I needed to ask for a background check from the FBI (send them my fingerprints and such).

However the delays (as reported from FBI's website, whose link is given on the CIC website under the relevant section) are about 12-15 weeks while I only have 60 days to submit the documents to Canadian immigration.

Is there any way to contact the people of the immigration to ask them for a delay or make sure this goes as smoothly as possible?
This has to be a well-known problem : the delays are the same for everybody.
I think I remember somebody here creating a topic and saying they got in touch with them and were granted an extra 60 days, but I don't remember seeing how they did it.

Any help is appreciated, this is stressful !

Cheers,

Valentin

MooseNBooze,

Do you know (through forums or otherwise) anyone who's been granted a 2nd extension of time to submit FBI docs? As suggested by you in another thread, I attached proof of submission of PCC request (courier receipts) and they have accepted it and granted 60 days extension however, it would only be 15 weeks on the deadline and going by statistics, it seems credit card gets charged around 15 to 16 weeks. so, I'm not sure how my fate will turn out. If credit card doesn't get charged before my 2nd deadline, what other new proof do I give CIC ? FBI refused to give any acknowledgment of receipt of package!! Now would they expedite the process!! Any other ideas? Please help!! I've paid all fees to CIC including RPRF upfront in the hope of getting through smoothly. :( :'(

NeelaR, you and I and many others are in the same boat. Yes, there were a couple of posters who said they asked for and received a second extension. I believe that issue has been asked and answered in the long FBI PCC thread (the first of the links I posted above). And I think you just submit a LOE saying you have yet to receive your report and/or your credit card hasn't been charged yet or something to that effect. No harm in re-attaching the proof of delivery and a screenshot of the page from the FBI website showing processing times either.

I hope thia helps. Best wishes.
