Hi forum members.
I need some advice.
I have been living in the US for the last four years due to a professional (pharmaceuticals) secondment. We are originally from Wales (UK). This post has now been made permanent and my family and myself are in the process of applying for a green card to help with our residency status.
We own a property in Golden, BC and would love to begin the immigration process asap. My question is, how soon can we start applying? Do we have to wait to get the green card or can we apply for our skilled worker visas now?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Greetings from Alberta!
As long as you are in the USA legally, you can apply to immigrate to Canada at any time. It does not matter if you have a green card, or just a work visa.

1. First things first, do you qualify? Have you at least 1 years experience in the past 10 in an occupation in the list of "38" ? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/backgrounders/2008/2008-11-28a.asp
If you do then you can apply http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp
2. If you don't have an occupation on the list, then you don't qualify unless you have worked or studied in Canada, or have an approved job offer in Canada
