Hello,
My husband was a plumber in Bermuda for 19 years including informal apprenticeship (no grades/paperwork). He has now completed and passed 8 month Foundations of Plumbing & Pipes Trades course in BC. Is this enough to apply for permanent residency or must it be 3rd of 4th year certificate? I understand that he needs a job offer anyway, and may have one, but should he go the safe route of work permit first? I am worried that after the changes in January 2015 that it will be even harder.

Thanks very much for your help.

Hi carobbermuda,

Do you mean your husbund applying under the Skilled trades category?
If so, your husband must have certificate from the province in Canada OR job offer, and 2 years of full time experience in past 5 years.
For more information, here is the requirement for skilled trades program.

I'm not sure if it's safe to get work permit first or not because I don't know your situation, and more, work permit/LMO(now they call LMIA) had a big change now.
