Skilled Immigration to Canada - Initial Entry Timeline ?

I am an Indian citizen currently in the USA on H1B. It takes approximately 18 to 24 months for processing the canadian green card papers when done in the USA.

Assuming all goes well and my application for permanant residence in the skilled application class is granted - Within what time frame am I required to enter Canada ?

Is there a minimum time frame within which I must enter the country or can I choose to enter in 3 to 4 years after approval ?

Any response or link to further reading would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Krish

rascojenkins, thanks for your reply

What are the consequences if I am unable to enter within 1 year of medicals. Do i have to get medicals done at a later time.

Say I get approved in 2011 and I would like to enter in 2013. Is it as simple as re-doing the medicals ?

i think yes. u only have to go through medicals again.
Nope, you don't use the visa within its validity dates, then you re-apply from the start.

if you are in USA and assume you have got the PR, then you can land in Canada and come back after doing some initial formalities.

After that you can reenter any time before the expiry of your PR ( My fren did the same thing he got PR in Aug 2008, went to Canada in Sept 2008 and came back in USA after a week , his PR is valid till 2013 )

good luck

No his PR is not valid to 2013, Between Sept/08 and Sept/13 he must reside in Canada for 2 years.
