Can you count work experience for FSW in the same skill level despite having different NOC codes ?

My case in particular:
I have 1 year of full time in NOC A - 2173 ( Software Engineer )
And 5 years of part time in NOC A - 4012 ( Research Assistant )

By my calculations, I should be able to get 1 + 5/2 = 3.5 years of work experience under Skill Level A. Is this analysis correct ?

The experience would be counted on the basis of the NOC and not skill type. Skill type 0, A or B is considered to determine the eligibility for Express Entry. In your case, it would 1 year under NOC 2173 and 2.5 years under NOC 4012.

Hi Stanlee, Wanted to get some clarity on this issue I am facing which is similar to this one:

I have 2 jobs spanning around 3 years.
But both the jobs fall under different NOC.
So is it okay to show 2 different NOC for the two jobs or is it unacceptable?

As in, I have experience of 2 yrs in one particular NOC in B category and another work experience of 1 yr 9 mts in another NOC in A category.
So will this cumulatively be counted as 3 years 9 months regardless of the fact it's under different NOC?

Also, from what I have read online, I also need to specify as to what's my "primary" NOC in my application. So how is that to be selected?

It's ok for your work experience to be under different NOC codes but they must have the same category. So in your case you can't cumulatively add your work experience.
