Hello,

One of my friend's sister is in Canada on a PR visa from last couple of years. Now my friend wants to go to Canada for job/immigrate purpose. Is there any option for her???

Her Profile:
Education - Graduate
Age - 27
Marital Status - Unmarried
Job - Working in IT in India

Can her sister help her from Canada?
Basically what are the options for her?

She went to Y-axis and abhinav and couple of other consultancies...they all are charging between INR 1-2 Lakhs with no guarantee but high hopes, hence, i thought to check here before letting her go with these consultancies....just trying to help her...

Thank you in advance, looking forward an informative response.

Forget the consultants. This forum is better. How many years of experience does your friend have in the NOC? Federal Skilled Worker Program seems to be the best option. Having a sister will help the friend get FSW points but not CRS points. The friend would have to get a really high score in IELTS too.

Go play with the calculator here -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

The two most important factors (that you can influence) are your language scores and your level of education. Your friend doesn't have a Masters, so that's a minus.

If she can max out her IELTS, that's a plus.

Play around with the calculator, and if you see that she's getting more than 450 points, she has a good shot at getting an ITA. If it's a lot less than that, (400-420), her chances go down.

Thank you for the responses. One of Y-axis representative was still referring to 67 points requirements....that is when we got little suspicious as they donno the latest things.....and when we said she has a relative in Canada on PR that representative got little pissed off n said 'no relatives can help please keep that in mind'....

Just one addition, she hasn't done her Masters but she has done PGDBA.....
She will be booking her IELTS test soon....i will let her know to try hard to achieve good score there....

Meanwhile - what will be the next step/process?

Thank you again for the help :)

The next step is to go read everything here -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp

That will give you all the information you need, and directly from CIC. Spend some time understanding this, and ask questions about the parts that are confusing. This forum has a lot of people who can help out, but you gotta do the research yourself.

Here's a broad summary cause I know it's confusing when you start out

1. There are three Federal Immigration Programs that come under Express Entry
  • Federal Skilled Workers (FSW) -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp
  • Federal Skilled Trades -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/trades/apply-who.asp
  • Canadian Experience Class -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

2. The first step is finding out which program you are eligible for. The CIC will tell you this based on answers you provide here -> http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/ee-start.asp

3. Most people here qualify for either FSW or CEC. Skilled trades is rarer on this forum.

4. For FSW, you need 67 points out of 100 to qualify. CEC and FST have their own criteria, which you can read about yourself.

5. Once you qualify for one or more of these programs, THEN you start looking at your Comprehensive Ranking System points (the CRS score we all keep talking about). You can create your EE profile only if you qualify under one of the three programs I listed above.

6. You cannot create your EE profile till you have your IELTS score report and your ECA.

7. Once your EE profile is created, you're in the "pool", and then you start hoping the points cutoff comes below whatever your score is.

8. Then you create an account on this forum and spend hours a week obsessing over it :D

So - go read!
