We should share each and everything we come to know about Saskatchewan which may be very useful for a newcomer. So when are you planing to move and which city would you stay in?

It is challenging to get a Job for newcomer, for many reasons, English Level, Education not recognized, Canadian Work Experience.

So, What can we do, to improve our chances, I was thinking get a Online Certificate offered by Calgary University. is 6 months length
but what else can we do...

I read in this forum a sad story of family that came to Canada , and when their money ran out, they needed to return India, now he is
planning to enter Toronto alone, and leave their relatives back in India.

So, Do you think that you need to travel alone in first place try to settle and then bring your family with you...

I agree that there are challenges for a new comer with no Canadian experience ..however, when we come to a new place we have to keep in mind that we can't secure the same kind of job that we had back home (reasons y'all know). We need to start with what's available and take on the job that will prevent the finances from drowning. Meanwhile, take part time courses (online-an excellent idea).
There's jobs in the labour sector that are comparatively easy to get as the employer won't ask for much Canadian experience - but the fact that some new comers are reluctant to take on these jobs and wait and wait and wait to get the job in their field- leaves them no option but to go back I guess. To my understanding, it's the small steps that are important that will help us make our ways up, it could take time but we just need to have that perseverance and the patience to get where we want to get...nothing is impossible...and YES, saying is easier than doing!!

Other ways to save money....rent a big house where 2-3 families can share the space (much better than renting individually)....buy a bus pass (don't think about getting a car - will save u the insurance and gas)..Commuting on bus is not that hard as even the major cities in SK are pretty small...if full-time job is tough to get, start with part-time jobs ( maybe two at a time...yes a lot of people do this in Canada). Use the free services that are available for new PRs - these include free English classes as well as help with job hunting....Also, always keep an eye for coupons and deals in the newspapers for shopping...
Those who have kids...be relieved as there are no school fees in public schools. If you want to see a doctor, there is no fees for that either..

While you ar e doing all this..don't forget to get your educational credentials evaluated....and most importantly make new friends and build your network which will help with job finding and help you keep your social life!

Agreed with Shanaya. I've seen loads of dumb who were well established in home country and migrated only dreaming that they will land in a bed of roses where all employer would welcome them and give them job in high & related position just after landing. .They all ended up frustrated It's a gradual process and we have to give us sometime to suit.

Every little helps. We should be practical and plan oriented. More importantly we should help each other with INFORMATION (Trust me, That's a great help.)

At this stage we have to think very clearly, plan in an organized way and keep in touch in a network between us. Remember, this is our turning point to be better in our future life.

The points are:
1. When you will land (based on job availabilities, house rent availabilities, weather, school year of children)
2. Where you will go? Regina or Saskatoon (my personal opinion is Regina)

We all can search and share our information about these.. After coming to a point about these two answers we can take steps forward, like houses, community and many more.
Also agree with FSWCIO, at this moment we need the help of information and experiences.

Thanks bro, I am thinking to create a network between us till a long time in our tough and good moments.
Because most of the time we see that after the visa issue forum mates become busy and cannot keep in touch with other forum members.

Nice idea to create this thread.

I think it gonna be a good idea to create a whatsapp group for people who are landed or near to land.

Even casual jobs would be good at the beginning

but my question is can any one plan for a job before travelling like attending online interview or something or we must wait to start after landing

and about the city I am also thinking about Regina

for my kids , I am looking also for schools as they are attending in french schools so the choices are limited but good public ones

see the website: usedregina.com very nice one

Dear mmomen,

Sorry for the late reply. I was out of town for few days.

I am planning to fly on April, 2016.
My expected destination is Regina as one of my colleagues is also moving there.
Thanks
