Single Summary Offence - Deferred Disposition - Work Permit

I was arrested back in May for Public Intoxication in Texas(Class C Misdemeanor). I am an Indian Citizen in the US on a H-1B visa. My employer would like to temporarily have me work from their Canadian office. I have to apply for a Canadian temporary work permit visa over the next month.

Since I didn't want a criminal record I opted for deferred disposition which the judge granted me and the PI charge will be dropped in Jan of 2011. However I cannot wait that long to apply for my work permit. I see that as long as I don't have two or more summary offences on my record I will be admissible to Canada. Does the fact that I am in the deferred disposition period affect my chances even though this is my only infraction?

If not, can someone please advise me with regards any extra paperwork I need to carry with me that may help my case. I will be answering yes to the "have you ever been arrested" question on the application, and provide all paperwork from the court of course that proves the above. Should I request any special clearance certificate etc.? Thanks a ton in advance.

I wish somebody helps me with this issue!!!!!! :-[
my husband has exactly the same situation.
A deferred sentence for a summary offense, but his case had already been dismissed after paying fine, with no probation. So do you think this single summary offense in 2 years ago, which is dismissed now will render him inadmissible???

It is not a criminal code offence in Canada, it falls under Provincial jurisdiction so you are not inadmissible.

What about Trespass?
my husband was chrged with trespass 2 years ago and plead guilty but based on a deferred sentence his charge was dismissed.
We have no idea this no conviction record based on a defered sentence makes him inadmissible!
Again the charge was trespass.
