My spouse had his interview on Oct 25, 2016 in Singapore and in December we had a request for a new medical and police check. We had these done within 3 days and sent them to Singapore. As of today, Mar 7/17, we have not got any email from Singapore for a passport request. Our immigration lawyer has been sending an email request every two weeks with a request to review the documents and make a final decision. Still nothing.
As for the processing time... we initally applied on Jan 13, 2015 and were told processing time was approx 27 months, we are currently at month 26. This would be even longer but when we were told in September 2016 that he would need an interview the embassy said they would be sending an immigration officer to Laos in March 2017 to do several interviews. We offered to travel to Singapore (and hire our own interpreter) at our own expense if we could have the interview done earlier, in which they agreed to do his interview in Singapore on October 25/16, instead of waiting another 5 months to have it done in Laos. I was happy that they agreed to let us do this, but I was also shocked that our interview date would also depend on how many other people would be available at the same time? Why should our interview depend on other people's availability??
Anyway...short answer is we have been going through this for 26 months now, not sure when/how long before we will get a passport request/decision.
