Hi there everyone! My name is Lester, been a long time lurker here and finally decided to join in. Such an awesome and helpful forum here by the way. Anyway without further ado I'm here to ask questions regarding my spouse sponsorship. I'm naturalized Canadian married my wife who is a Filipina, she is currently working in Singapore as of the moment. I mailed our application on December 8, 2014 and CIC Mississauga received it on December 11, 2014. CIC sent me a letter that a decision has been made on March 3, 2014. On this letter, it mentioned that I have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. It also states that CIC is forwarding my wifes Application for PR to a visa office abroad which is Singapore by the way for further processing. Now my questions are:
1. Based on CIC website, processing for every visa office varies. Singapore which is where my wife currently reside and works will take 30 months, Philippines on the other hand which is where her hometown is will take at least 17 months. To speed up process, is it possible to transfer her application to a visa office in the Philippines? on the letter, it mentioned that the visa office in Singapore was selected based on my wifes home address. If we change this address with her Philippine address will it be possible? and will it make any difference on processing time?
2. Getting her to apply for tourist visa. Because we don't know how long the process would take and being far apart from each other is killing us, we are considering to go with this route. Is this a viable option? or should we just wait until her application is approved? If we do push through with this decision, she'll have to quit her job there and give up that Singapore address attached to her file.
I would very much appreciate any guidance or advice that group members on this forum would share.
Thanks and regards,
Lester
