I disagree with this - “we are processing your background...” means that your background check is over.

It is a case-to-case basis and also the VO processing your application. Some will never see this status, some will be stuck for months. I myself received a phone interview from SGVO, not regarding employment or travels but personal matters on my marital status. BGC status was “Not applicable” then. Exactly 8 days after the interview, the status changed to “We are processing..”

According to my GCMS, eligibility passed on the same day of the interview and “Security” (BGC) only started on the day the status changed to IP2 (8 days after interview).

I am PNP-O and updates were only triggered when I informed SGVO of the change of family composition and after uploading spouse’s documents.

I suggest to order GCMS if BGC is taking longer than usual to know the status of your application.

Edit: I backread a few pages and found out most of you in this thread are paper-based. I am an EE applicant, so the changes on the application may not be relevant to most of you.

I am in big dilemma dear now, all my friends in the same intake are already established in Saskatchewan, i m behind here because of adopted a son. don't know when i will be clear, i raised ten months later of my AOR for GCMS note , According to note all four parameter not started yet . next update date will be one month later and after 35 days i got the request for additional paper to submit. even i did not received file transfer mail from Singapore. All my paper are legal paper issued by Bangladesh government.

i think they will call me for interview , don't know when, its nearly 18 months after submitting my application.
Only GOD can help me

Sorry to hear about this. I got a phone interview of the same, that is, child custody as I am a single mother. In my GCMS, the agent said he believes that I have the full custody of my child and I can establish myself economically in Canada.

However, I am PNP-EE so it may move faster than paper-based applications. You can raise CSE or email SGVO to check the status of your application but you may not get a reply if you are still within the average processing time for your stream.

I hope you get good news soon.

Singapore CIC is a very strange office they even not reply mail, i sent several mail to Singapore that whether my file is with them or not , lastly i mail to Ottawa and they reply that my file location was Singapore, even my file was receive by Singapore at 31 jan 2017 according to GCMS note but not officially inform me. I came into conclusion that they don’t normally reply to status updates, but they do reply quickly to other inquiries like change of family composition.
