his background check status is "we are processing...".means "his background check has been completed."
I don't think so. They are still working on this. And normally when they start BG check they send mail but in this case they didn't. So little bit confusing.

As i know,VO will not send you a email when they are checking your background.
background are being checked from they receive your addiontial documents.if your background check status changes to "we are processing ....",the background check is over.

Yes, they are. I know one of my colleague who has gone through the interview process. And got PPR after the interview date.

"we are processing your background..."means that your background check is over,if this time more than 2 months, that means you are need a Security investigation, that needs more than a year.

Security investigation just investigate if you are a spy, becuse of your university ,your profession, your company and so on.

I disagree with this - “we are processing your background...” means that your background check is over.

It is a case-to-case basis and also the VO processing your application. Some will never see this status, some will be stuck for months. I myself received a phone interview from SGVO, not regarding employment or travels but personal matters on my marital status. BGC status was “Not applicable” then. Exactly 8 days after the interview, the status changed to “We are processing..”

According to my GCMS, eligibility passed on the same day of the interview and “Security” (BGC) only started on the day the status changed to IP2 (8 days after interview).

I am PNP-O and updates were only triggered when I informed SGVO of the change of family composition and after uploading spouse’s documents.

I suggest to order GCMS if BGC is taking longer than usual to know the status of your application.

Edit: I backread a few pages and found out most of you in this thread are paper-based. I am an EE applicant, so the changes on the application may not be relevant to most of you.

yes,you are right.I know that more 100 people whose files were dealt with by HKVO ,once their background check status changed to "we are processing..."they would get DM whith 2months.if they didnt get DM whith 2month,they applied to retrieve the files by Taobao,They would find that they were in security investigation .

The way of medical check and the way of supplying files of EE are different from paper-based.ohters are almost the same.

Normal security check and security screening (SS) are different. The latter is more stringent and may take up to one year or even longer. Some EE applicants get PPR after 3 months in IP2, so you cannot speculate you are in SS by the status in myCIC account alone.

The only way to know the BGC status and to know if you are in SS is by ordering GCMS or CSIS/CBSA notes.
