hello there!!!

greetings.... im new to this forum, are applying under Quebec skilled worker and recently issued our CSQ....... my family is about to apply for federal. can anybody enlighten our doubts:
1. am i right in saying that our VO will automatically be Singapore??? (since we residing here for almost 5 yrs) ...
2. as for the police clearance since they are not issuing police clearance if you are not a citizen but will only provide you if you can show them letter of request from Visa office that requires you to secure it.... ??? ??? ??? so we only need to submit our application minus the singapore police clearance????
3. do they really require bank statement and for how many months??? is it submitted together with the application???

any inputs is highly appreciated. thanks much!!! ;D

First of all, many congratulations from my side for securing your CSQ. I hope you get nothing but success as the outcome of your visa application.

The answers to your questions are given below :-
1 / If you are residing in Singapore since 5 years and STILL a lawful resident, then YES, you may apply to Singapore visa office. However, if your country of nationality is different from singapore, then you also have the option to apply at the Canadian visa office authorized to process permanent resident visa applications from your country of nationality.

If you have the option to apply at any one of the two visa offices mentioned above ( canadian visa office for your country of nationality vs canadian visa office for your country of current lawful residence ), then you should apply at the visa office having jurisdiction over your current place of residence and where you will be physically present throughout the processing of your application so you can quickly attend the interview, if required.

Additionally, keep in mind that SINGAPORE visa office is a REGIONAL PROGRAM CENTER - a visa office that houses the Medical Office as well as IMMIGRATION OFFICE in the same building and that contains more than 8 Canadian visa officers. Processing times at Singapore would be a bit faster than the visa office having jurisdiction over your country of nationality. So my advice is to go for Singapore visa office if you are legally resident in that country and if you will be physically present in that country throughout the processing of your visa application, not forgetting to enclose a copy of your resident visa for Singapore with your visa application.

2 / Submit your visa application without your Police Clearance Certificate ( PCC ) from Singapore. Visa officers at Singapore are aware of this rule. They will provide you with a letter to request PCC from Singapore once your visa application is in the processing stages. Be sure to enclose PCC from your country of nationality though.

So, yes, you may go ahead and submit your visa application minus the Singapore PCC.

3 / If you are applying under the CSQ ( Quebec Skilled Workers ) a bank statement is not a requirement to be submitted with the visa application. However, keep in mind that the visa officer has the discretion to request this document if he/she deems necessary. It is advisable to submit a bank statement and it should be an itemized bank statement from your bank for a period of 6 months before the date your visa application is submitted at a visa office. The choice is yours and the processing of your visa application will start even if you do not submit a bank statement with your application.

Please go through the visa office specific instructions for Singapore for Quebec Skilled Workers. Here is the link :-
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37057.pdf

I hope I have answered your questions to your satisfaction.
Good luck.

Address back Garu? What is written their? Is their any specific date they mentioned about starting your processing?
I applied on last April'11. Analyzing your time line, I think its really hard for me to expect anything from them before November'11. What do you think? Is there any different time line between single and accompanying application processing?
Any of your comments will be highly appreciated.
Hi CRS, my address is still missing in e-cas. Yes, my e-cas stated that they have started processing on 24th Aug 2011.

Your file should be in process by Nov or Dec. I'm not sure if there is a difference in processing time between single and those who has dependant.

In my case address disappear meant many things for my case. before issuance of the PPR, it went missing for 3 weeks.

hi everyone, I am back after the busy time. I have not found a job yet, even a simple McDonald job. One thing that you need to prepare is that you need to build credit when you are here. I cannot get any loan, no matter how small the amount for car, housing etc... and even to rent a house, they do check the credit and references, so we have to get a co-sign for our rental. When you first came to Canada, everything you buy need to be in cash as you cannot get any form of credit. My advise is to open a secured credit card immediately, which mean you give the bank an amount of money and they issue you a credit card with that same limit but you cannot withdraw the security deposit, the card take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive at your address and you use it for a year, you will may be able to get an unsecured credit if you are employed, if you are unemployed, you wont be able to get any credit at all. Pay the bill every month and start to build up your credit, it may take years till you are qualified for an unsecured credit card or a mortgage, so be prepared with lots and lots of cash when you are here. It take up to 9 months to get a driver license if you do not have an oversea driver license, so do get a license at home and they will allow you to take the exam and road test in a month. The first month however, you can use your home country driver license. Insurance is a must to drive a car here and for new commer, we have to pay high premium, I pay $142 a month just for the most basic insurance plan without any add on and it is only for leisure purpose, if you use the car to work, it cost more. Life is extremely tough in canada, and you have to pay a lot of money at first, so do prepare. And if you have family that can help you in the first 3 months, it will help a lot!!! Everything is expensive in canada and you have to pay PST and GST so the tax is around 12% to 16% depends on where you live, that mark up the price of everything considerably.

Just go to employment agency and apply there. you have to lie in your cv. just add some job in you resume. the good thing is that agency don't check or call the company to see if you really have worked there. when you apply agency take all the information but trust me they never call. eveybody can do job but the hardest thing is to get into one. so i suggest you to make up some job in ur resume..

Hi letina, it's good to hear from you again though it's sad to know that you are still jobless todate. I'm now worried because our destination is also NB and it seems that it is difficult to get a job there based on your sharing. Luckily, we have relatives there who are willing to adopt us while we are in the process of settling.

Anyway, i'm sure you will find job soon... just keep being positive in seeking for one and you will get a job surely.

Good luck and keep in touch!
