If you gave them all the document they need you can expect between 5-8 months but I don't know if they process children case quicker!!!

Thanks. Is there any way to query by calling them ? Its going to be 8 months soon since I applied.

It would depend what country you're applying from. You can check processing time here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/information/times/index.asp

If you've been waiting more than the processing time you can contact your mp to make an enquiry. Or you can order GCMS notes if possible.

Hi,
What is the current timeline for Singapore ? I applied for my infant daughter, haven't heard anything yet.

We received your application for permanent residence on April 29, 2016.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on June 14, 2016.
We started processing your application on June 9, 2016.
Medical results have been received.

When to expect PR?

You can call CIC in Canada to get contact info for your VO. You can email the VO or get your MP to look into it even if it's been less than the average processing time. I had great luck doing both after 6 months.

Hello again,

So sorry to be asking too much questions. I obtained my coc from Singapore but I'm not sure how i'll send it to SVO. The request letter has the sender's address as the PO BOX mailing address of Canada Immigration. But I'm thinking if I could avail of the vfs global (cvac) services to send the police clearance/coc to SVO so I can track it (although there was no instuction in the request letter to do this).

So, based on your experience, did you send it to PO BOX mailing address? Or via vfs global (cvac)? Thanks in advance.

The processing time for Vietnam at Singapore office just changed to 16 months. Don't know about other countries.

What a big difference of 26 months from when I first applied to sponsor my wife. So my application is now at 9 months of waiting and I got 7 more months of waiting to go instead of 17 months. What a big difference!

I got GCMS notes from early October. In July the VO in Singapore paper screened my wife's application and recommended no wav and recommended passed on the eligibility assessment. He/she had no concerns and said 'appears bona fide. no wav'

But haven't heard anything from Singapore and it's been 5 months since that recommendation.

I hope to have news soon.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes from the time the VISA is issued and application is closed online to the time you receive the passport back? My husband submitted his passport through CVAC in Vietnam who sent it to Singapore. Application was closed on Monday. Wondering what day we should except to get the passport back at CVAC for pickup.

FYI - Here is my updated table of the listed processing times for Singapore. Happy to see there continues to be on a downward trend, although I am not surprised as I have been reading about a lot of visas being given out this past month! Seems to be that they are specifically focusing on lowering those over 20 months in May 2016 (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam). Second month in a row with good decreases for both Thailand and Cambodia! Yippee!! Hopefully the trend in decreasing processing times will continue for everyone with Singapore processing centre. :)

Yes!! So excited that they are lowering the processing down to 12 months for everyone (well 80% of cases at least), and processing all of the backlogged applications by the end of December 2017! Thailand applicants will benefit significantly as we are often the 2nd or 3rd longest processing time in the world! My post of the new processing times for Singapore processing centre is fortunately redundant now :) Praise God!

I just wish my immigration lawyer submitted my completed application four months ago, rather than forgetting about it for four months... I could have almost definitely been home for Christmas 2017 in Canada with these new processing times! Time to pressure my immigration lawyer to get it submitted ASAP! Although, I wonder if I should redo the application using the new application form or not? It can be submitted using old forms until January 31 2017, but maybe it will be more streamlined to just redo it?

Tickets booked for my husband! one way from KL on the 20th!! so excited!!
i'll update everyone with his landing experience.

Hope things are working out well for the rest of you!

Just a correction and good news for you. You won't have to wait until December 2017 if you didn't submit your application this month.

The backlog they are working on is not by end of December 2017. They are saying the latest you will wait is December 2017 if you submitted this month.

The backlog they are working on is first in first out process meaning they are working on the ones that came earliest.

So the way I interpreted it is I submitted my application in March 2016 which is 9 months ago. New processing time is 12 months so they will strive to render a decision within 3 months from now.

Back to your question don't redo. They are working on first in first out of previously submitted application. If you redo your application it will go to the bottom of the pile of all those backlogged 80,000 application. The quota next year for spouses is 64,000...

Thanks Buonqua!

Hopefully you will get your application processed in 3 or so months! That would be great!

Unfortunately, my application hasn't been submitted yet and isn't in the "backlog of files" to be processed first. I will be at the bottom of the pile... :( I sent the completed application (minus Affidavit of Birth that my lawyer said she would draft for us...) to my lawyer beginning of August 2016, but she didn't look at it until I called her three weeks ago inquiring why nothing had been done yet!! Now, I need to redo some of the support to add in the most current information. My lawyer now promises to submit it mid-January 2016. That's why I'm wondering whether it would make any difference whether I redo the forms or not since it isn't even submitted yet... Just paid to redo an express police check (1600 baht =~ 60$) which I guess we don't need anymore with the new process!

Yes, looking at the math of 80,000 backlogged (which they promised 80% will be processed in less than 12 months = 64,000), and only 64,000 spousal/dependent PR being issued next year, it looks like there will be nothing but backlogged processed in 2017 probably. So any files submitted after Dec 7 (or Dec 15?) probably won't get issued until at least 2018.
