For your flight that you bought don't worry too much. Most of the time they accept to change the date but do it as soon as possible. If the ticket is more expensive for the new date you'll have to pay the difference, the opposite is not truth...! I had to change the plane ticket for wife when she landed, she flew with thai airways

Yeah, I just changed our tickets to Thailand to January because we sent off my wife's passport to SVO. And I had to buy an additional ticket for just me because my visa expires Dec 4 lol. So I will fly alone to Kuala Lumpur for 4 days and then go back to Indonesia and the wife and I will await the passport and then go together to Thailand. Then we will land in Canada towards the end of January.

Thanks! Yea, ticket is part of it but I also booked hotels, car rental, arranged for a few weeks off work, made plans to do things with friends and family... yeesh. Plus I really wanted my wife to visit at Christmas so she could finally meet my family when everybody has time off together.

So I hope the CIC gods are merciful and make a miracle happen. :P

Either way, at least this long strange trip is almost over. Best of luck to everybody else getting good news before the year ends. 8)

Nice plan buddy, it would have been better if your wife could go Kuala Lumpur with you but I'm sure you prefer to have her passport getting a beautiful shiny Canadian visa in it ;)
Enjoy holiday with your wife ;)

Yep :)

Thanks man!

Wow and wow! Congrats to whole lot of ya...

So my wife went to the VFS here in Singapore at 8AM to submit her passport. She asked what the chances were of getting it back before our flight on the 9th.

The employee said: go RIGHT NOW and print copies of your airline ticket, write a letter, and print your itinerary, and come back.

Panicked, she rushed and did this, only to come back 30 minutes later to a different employee who said "That other staff was mistaken. It is impossible to have your passport back before January. You should either cancel your trip to Canada, or do not submit your passport and ask CIC to extend your PPR. However, they may say no."

Gonna try emailing CIC and see what they say. Meh. Hope CIC are nicer than these people. :'(

When we submitted at VFS Jakarta they told my wife it would take up to 35 days. Maybe you'll get it back in time.

Rather than waste time, we just submitted it. Meh. Hope CIC are nicer than these people. :'(

Sorry to hear. That does not make sense that it is "impossible" to get your passport back before January?? That is more than five weeks from now. Everyone. Hit pause on your life as you wait on something that they should absolutely know. You'd think that they would know standard service delivery/processing time for submitting and return of a passport????

Well, I guess my wife will not be travelling back with me if that is the case. We believe the officer approved our application. The officer said it will be tight and we would have to fly out before medical expires (January 10 or something). Interview was October 18. No PPR at this point. I have to fly back to Canada in late December for new job.

Yea, pretty frustrating. I emailed them to ask what we should do, so now more waiting... I hope the VFS office is wrong.

What's really annoying is they already approved the TRV - it's very clearly there in MyCIC - and they knew exactly when we were going to Canada. This has been planned for months.

I suggest you email Tom Richter instead of sending a CSE.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just emailed him too. Fingers crossed...

Edit: WOW got a reply already and it's ok to submit the passport when we return so we are good to go for our trip! Thanks again for the suggestion ImABule: you saved Christmas! ;D

But didn't you say you already did submit it?

Edited my original comment :) My wife was about to submit it, but then decided we should wait and hear what SVO says first.

Just noticed your medical was done over a year ago too. Really surprised they let you submit PP after Xmas!

Makes me think I should have emailed him again and asked if we could submit after Thailand but at least this way we should have the wife's PP back before I go back to Canada lol.
