How fast is fast? I met my wife online through a mutual friend in Feb '15. Visited for 2 and a half weeks in May/June '15, proposed on video call in August and returned in Dec '15 and married her. I visited again in March '16 and we sent additional proofs.

I think your good bro, always send new proofs. You met her before and after marriage. It should be quick for you. Fast could be anywhere from 5-6 months to 9-12months.i know a a few people in real life having that fast processing time. Their wife from cambodia too. I hope a few members of your family went for your marriage too if not they may required an interview and ask you why they didn't go. That's what happened to my vietnamese friend. His process time was 6 years, I think. His wife failed on interview. And Viet nam process time is a bit longer. More fake marriage in that country.

How much time have you spent in person/ number of visits?

Met in December 2013. Visited three times for month, three months and 10 days. Since October 2015, I moved to be with wife in Vietnam. Managed to find a good job (does not pay nearly as well), but I get to be with her. We got married in December 2015. Typical traditional wedding with my one brother (my parents have passed so I am guessing my brother is good family representation) and good friends that came. I think my file is pretty straightforward but who knows. What about your situation?

It would be nice to settle in Canada. Like you, if her application does not get approved, then we will just live in Vietnam.

Seems like you have pretty straight forward application bro. Met my wife online through a mutual friend in February 2015, visited for 2 and a half weeks in May/June, returned for two weeks in December 2015 and married her and returned for 2 more weeks in March-/April 2016. Currently planning my next visit but I wanna see what my notes say first because I only get 4 weeks vacation and if she would have an interview any time this year by chance I'd wanna be there. How does the work permit work in Vietnam? It's like next to impossible to get one in Indonesia. It's so stupid, if she's a PR she can work wherever she wants here, but gotta jump through hoops to get it. In Indonesia I can get PR just by filling out the papers, but getting the permission to work is ridiculous. We would probably have to save money and open a business if we were to live there or relocate to a more laid back country like Cambodia lol.

Like you, we were going to get married much earlier (in February 2015) but I messed up on the paperwork in Canada. Worked out well because family and friends on my side could attend. I actually did not know about all the redflag stuff until after the wedding and then doing the paperwork. <-- Lazy and bad planning.

You can get a three year foreign work permit in VN. You will need to meet some conditions (specialized knowledge, special jobs, no crim record). From what I remember, the process is straightforward. Application, fees, and probably some under the table money and you are good. Fortunately, I found a consulting gig that does not require me to work more than three months in each contract so I am exempt. I am also currently looking for work with organizations like the UN, WHO and World Bank. Hard to get in but was told that they would relocate your family to the post you are assigned, unless the post is a dangerous place. Another option for being with your wife if this process is not successful?

Happy to hear you are booking your next trip!!! I hope you don't get an interview so you can book your trip on your timeline!!!!

I'm sure you will be good with SVO and you wont have interview. You can go back on this thread to see my timeline and a post about my timeline and for elegibility SVO recommand passed and forwarded to missississauga for final review. Just hope that missississauga wont ask an interview.

Shineon39.

Congrats again on the recommended pass. Great news!!! Any information on when your file will be reviewed by Mississauga? I assume that your ECAS status has not changed to "decision made"?
