I Just received a letter for Passport Request today!!!!!! We will fill out the form and send my wife's passport tomorrow. My daughter already have her Canadian Passport, do we need to send my daughter's passport too? How long does it take to get my wife's passport back after we send it? I can't wait to make love with my wife LOL :-*

Hi everyone, just wanted to update you guys on some stuff i got back. I have not ordered GCMS notes. Emailed my local MP to see if they could get a status on whats going on and she got back to me yesterday.

Currently the medical has passed, the eligibility is in process and the background checks have not started. According to the employee at the MP's office, the background checks is what takes the most time cos it's done by an external agency. The CIC officer mentioned 17 months, no more,no less, for the whole process to be done, which is what is on their website. Hope this helps everyone.

My timeline is on the left for anyone who wants to know. I'm just hoping to not hear anything from CIC in the next few months, which I'm assuming will mean that the elgibility has passed.

Praying for all of you just waiting to be reunited with your loved one:)

Having a well put together application, you will be processed in way less time than 17 months.

Hi guys,
I m September 2015 applicant. I received my both AOR1 and AOR2 and my both SA and PR ecas shows "in process" since December 2105.
My medical has been expired last almost one and half month, but no response from VO. Can any one clarify my situation. Any response is hugely appreciated.

That's the hope now ImABule. I put in everything I needed to and then some, so here's hoping. It'd be nice to hear a Sept /Oct, Nov applicant getting DM.

Quick question, does anyone know how the background checks work? Like, where do they send it to and which countries would be involved?

CSIS does the SEC/CRIM assessments. They will check with all countries the applicant has been involved with.

That's why I'm sure once my eligibility passes I won't have a log wait as my wife is 22, never left Indonesia, never had military/government position.

Also, if your country specific process time states 17 months, that merely means that 80% of applicants were processed within 17 months and many of them a lot faster.

Yes that's true you're right. It's so disheartening though to see Paris/Ottawa/London so quick and absolutely no word from SVO haha. patience..

I have a very long timeline. Singapore received my application on june 2013, my baby was born on october 2014. Interview on march 2015. DNA test on November 2015. Remedical may 3rd 2016 and I just received passport request yesterday may 12 2016. My passport request after re-medical was fast. Other than that.. It was long process time. I hope you guys don't have to go what I've been thru. Took us almost 3 years total. Hope she will get her passport soon. In the letter it say if we don't get our passport back in 1 month to contact them. So im hoping my wife and daughter can come here before Canada day. It would be great. Good luck to you all.

Wow man.... That's beyond ridiculous

So happy you'll have your family with you now.

What were the issues they had with your application?

Which country is your spouse from?

SVO is so slow it's unbelievable. I really wish Jakarta processed family class. Seems like there are very few Indonesian/Canadian couples.

My wife's from Cambodia. They believe our relationship wasn't genuine. I had so many proof but we married in a short time. Had to gave them a positive DNA test for them to believe that our relationship is genuine. I heard if they believe your relationship is genuine, its fast, if not its gonna take long time. If you guys been waiting more tham 15 months, get ready for an interview.

How fast is fast? I met my wife online through a mutual friend in Feb '15. Visited for 2 and a half weeks in May/June '15, proposed on video call in August and returned in Dec '15 and married her. I visited again in March '16 and we sent additional proofs.
