I got a one way ticket for my wife to come to Canada could that cause a problem. The route of her flight is

SGN-ICN-ORD-YUL

Vietnam-Korea-USA-Canada

Also she will not be insured for the first 3 months she is in Quebec and advice on medical insurance.

For insurance you can look for the blue cross, I took it for my wife when she came to visit me last summer and cost me around 400$ for 3 month.
For one way ticket if she is visiting cbsa can ask question for sure if landing as PR it will be fine. Does she need visa to transit throught usa??

It should be fine to buy a one way ticket, since she is coming as an immigrant. You should get some private insurance to cover her during the 1st 3 months. Also, I believe she will have to apply for a transit visa when traveling through the US. To avoid that issue, it's probably less hassle to just simply skip the US

Good morning,

I am a new user and I have few questions. I would really appreciate if anyone can help.

1. How do I make an ATIP request?

2. I recently received AOR2 from Singapore and I feel that I have not send enough pictures of my wedding. Can I still send it to SVO without receiving a request from them first?

3. As per the post above, How to you submit information online?

4. Is ECAS is the only place I can see the status of my application?

My timeline:

Category........: FAM
Visa Office......: Singapore
App. Filed.......: Oct 03, 2015
AOR Received.: Nov 25, 2015
File Transfer...: Dec 24, 2015
AOR2 Received, Dec 29, 2015
Med's Request: upfront
Current status: in process

Thank you.

1. How do I make an ATIP request?
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp

2. I recently received AOR2 from Singapore and I feel that I have not send enough pictures of my wedding. Can I still send it to SVO without receiving a request from them first?
In the letter from CIC they might have provided a link to email CIC through their system, i.e. https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=singapore. Note, I submitted about 5 photos of our wedding. It's not the quantity that counts.

3. As per the post above, How to you submit information online?
See #2

4. Is ECAS is the only place I can see the status of my application?
It's supposed to but rarely does. My ECAS has said in process for the last 2 months. Your ATIP notes will give a better indication of its status, but it will be about 1 month late.

Greetings,

I'll be sponsoring my wife when I return back to Canada this March. We also have a 6-month old daughter born in Vietnam that has her Canadian citizenship.

I paid a consultant to help me with my spousal sponsorship application for my Vietnamese wife. He insists I have to fill out a Financial Evaluation along with the Sponsorship Evaluation.

I spent all of 2014 in Vietnam with my wife so I made less than $10k. He says I need at least $23k in order to sponsor. I made about $260k in 2015 but that's because I sold 1 of my house and $62k are capital gains on stocks and dividends. Don't know if those count as income.

I thought since I'm just sponsoring my wife I don't need to have a job so why do I need to get into details on my Financial Evaluation.

On CIC website for Financial Evaluation it also says, "Use this application if your sponsorship application includes a dependent child of a dependent child."

So should I just ignore the consultant and not submit the Financial Evaluation when I get back to Canada or it just makes my case stronger if I do one.

You are correct. Find a new consultant.

The Sponsorship Evaluation will help us assess your past and current obligations with respect to previous sponsorship undertakings that you have signed or co-signed. This form, and the supporting documents you will be sending with your application, will help us determine whether you meet the residency requirement and whether you have the ability to support the applicant.

Note: You must not use this form if you or your spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner has a dependent child who has child of his own. You must complete a Financial Evaluation (IMM 1283)

Hey Everyone!

Wow this is truly a MASSIVE thread. I've been in the October 2015 outland forum mostly since I submitted a spousal sponsorship under the family class category. Good news is my application has been forwarded off to Singapore!

I wanted to check the timeline but it seems it's restricted and I couldn't find the 2015 spreadsheet. Is there a specific person I have to PM with my email address?

Thanks everyone! Apologies for the silly questions.

I lost my access to the spreadsheet as well. Seems the administrator has moved on and forgotten us.

Would be interested to update the spreadsheet too if anyone has access.

Perhaps we should make a Sinagpore 2016 thread ::)
