Timeline30 and common, have u gotten decision made or updates from visa office?, think all the people that submitted passports on march week 1 and 2 have received their status change.

Hello Kaisin82,

They received my passport on March 10 and it stills says 'in process' in ecas. I am nearing the second month, decision made or change in status. I actually don't have much faith in their reporting on ecas, as my application still has the following two lines:

file sent to SVO on ________ February
File transferred in May 2012, and your application is in process, and nothing else. So, if they can't update my ecas for the last two years, I highly doubt they would do so for my passport this time.

I hope they send me the passport soon. Anyone else, got their passport back? I would like to get an idea of when I should start expecting. My medical expires in August. :(

anybody facing the Certificate issue with VFS site. I tried today to check the status but its giving certificate error as the certificate seemed like not signed by valid security certificate ? :(

Here is what it says when I click our status

Permanent Residence
We received your application for permanent residence on July 26, 2013.

We started processing your application on February 12, 2014.

Medical results have been received.

Sorry to hear that. I was in the same boat as you are right now. We were only flagged because my wife was denied student visa once.

My advice. Go to sleep. They will not respond to any communication from you henceforth until they decide to interview you. We waited 16 months before they interviewed us.
In the mean time, gather as much documents as you can. Money transfers, chat logs, vacation photos, etc. If you take enough documents, the interview is pretty straightforward. And they will ofcourse ask about the student visa refusal.

Hi people,

CIC Singapore just sent me a letter Headlined -Case Status

in that letter its written that.

-Y- you are on our interview list our next contact with you will be to advise you the time and date. Please wait to hear from us.

-Y- please be advised applications which require interview fall outside normal processing standards. The current queue for an interview is approximately 25 months. While you application is awaiting interview we will not accept respond to,or attach your file any correspondence, except: change of address or contact information, including change of email address;change of immigration representative;change of martial status of family composition; request for withdrawal of your application.

Also they sent the evidence that we submitted and told me to bring those with me in the interview.

So its a sure interview isn't it?
anyone here with an interview experience can help me here? I received the letter today which was sent on may 21th. Thanks in advance.

Now let me ask you, a student visa and a TRV, both are temporary stays, why is a student visa denial more serious than a TRV?

hopefully this coming week, we will hear about people getting their passports back!

Do you mind to share your timeline Seeekingtobeunited? I applied for my wife last year. I just want to get the idea how long it takes for a Bangladeshi spouse. Thanks.

Hello Kamloops,

Sorry for the late reply. I will explain why.

Here is my timeline:

My wife's application was received by CIC-Singapore on March 6, 2013
Status changed from "Received application" to "in process" in February 14, 2014
Request to submit Passport and re-medical + police certificate came in February 17, 2014
Passport submitted in March 24, 2014 through the Dhaka VFS and passport received by CIC Singapore on March 27, 2014

On May 3rd, 2014, I contacted my local MP to inquire about the status of my wife's passport given that it has been over a month. My MP was provided a status update by CIC-Singapore stating that:

On April 22nd 2014 The passport, the police certificate and photos have been received.
On April 23 2014 CIC sent a letter requesting an update (Form. IMM5669 improper). You have 30 days to send the corrected form.

I gather that even through they "received" the passport on March 27, they actually started looking at it on April 22.

It turned out that they sent the "letter requesting a corrected form" through email and that email was sitting in my SPAM folder for 7 days. I did not even realize this!! I don't usually check my spam folder. Today, I sent them the corrected form. And I am hoping that it doesn't take too long from here.

I hope that you will find this information useful.

Cheers.

Still waiting on a decision. Our application went "in Process" one week after my wife's interview. No communication from them yet.

TRV is a termporary visitor visa. Let's you stay in the country for 6 months max unless you apply for extensions. If you get denied on that, no hard feelings, you can try again.

With student visas, no matter what VO's say or do, they know that 90% will apply for post grad permit and stay in Canada after graduation. So it is more like permanent visa too. And when you get refused a student visa and you try a different class, they flag you saying your primary intention is living in Canada and not the family class you applied for.

Hope it makes a little sense.

Hi cdnmom, congratulationss on getting your passport back!! Now you're at the end of this long journey :)

On what date did the Singapore office issue your COPR?

And if there was a letter in the package you received on May 1st, what's the date of the letter?
