Don't worry my friends, SVO VOs are now free from issuing visa to the students in May and they are tired of holding your PPs.

They will surely return your pps soon i.e withing 1/2 weeks (hopefully).

Timeline30 and common, have u gotten decision made or updates from visa office?, think all the people that submitted passports on march week 1 and 2 have received their status change.

So they've been prioritising students over families then?! :(

Unfortuantely that's how it is. Students pay high international fees to schools. Families just leech off the public system while paying little to no taxes. Sorry that's not what I mean, that's just how CIC views people, as dollar signs.

Very sad yet very true!

By the way, universities start in September right...? They're already issuing student visas as early as now?

And how do you know for sure that they're done (or almost done) issuing student visas?

Interesting... It's says that student visa are different part of family sponsorship, according to Canada's news release that they are putting reuniting dailies first. Also they are having a problem with the skilled worker visas cause Canadians are complaining that foreigners are taking their jobs. In some countries you can get your student visa through the embassy.

Families shouldn't be leeching off the system. This is why you have to show your bank statement. If you don't have enough money to provide your spouse with the basic necessities then you are not approved as sponsor, also it is a red flag as to why you are going to Canada and that's probably why some people have interviews.

No one can say for sure what they are doing over there because they will never tell you. Unless you know someone who works there. All we have is educated guesses and luck really.

For some applicants you sent your passport feb and early march and have just received decision made? That means their processing time has increased..... Maybe they are getting new people and it takes time to train them on how to view an application or issue/ print visas?

I was under the impression that spousal sponsorship gets first priority.

Well IMO, the lowest priority for the govt is sponsoring parents/grandparents, hence why they've set a limit to the # of parent applications. Most of them are unable to work because of age or poor English ability, they're old enough to not be able to compete for jobs against younger folks, they usually have a harder time adjusting to society because they've lived in their home country for a large majority of their life, but they're still entitled to the same benefits as the rest of "better off" Canadians. Even Jason Kenney says don't bring your parents here for welfare.

The second lowest priority I think, are family class sponsorships in general. I know spouses are considered high priority, but a high priority of a low priority part of immigration, is still pretty "low priority" considering some people have insane processing times of 30+ months, and having to wait 2 years for an interview, which by the way, the time waiting for interview doesn't even count towards the processing time.

You see, I don't believe the govt for a second when they say family reunification is a priority for them, processing times have gone up, there's a strict cap on the # of parents who can arrive, while they keep announcing faster processing times for skilled workers.

I was under the impression that spousal sponsorship gets first priority.

I doubt it, even when the PAFSO strike was going on, there was not a single mention about family class applications. They just kept talking about how they'll work on getting student visas ready, but nothing about family class. But like I said before, a high priority (spouse sponsorship) of a low priority area (family class sponsorship), is still "low priority".

VOs must issue student visas for the May-Aug semester by end of April. Those are urgent matter by end of April, so get priority. In the begining of May they are toally free from issuing student visas. Now they can concentrate more on spousal visas work. About Family reunification CIC means parents visas.

Just want the PP back. After another week it will be 2 months PP sent. In the meantime ticket price is getting sky rocketing high. Hope by next 2 weeks we will get the PPs back.
