Hello everyone.


I really need your help! I'm from Bangladesh and my wife is also Bangaldeshi but is also a Canadian citizen. We got married in Bangladesh. But in our marriage certificate she has put her step-father's name as her father. Do you think this will be an issue? Her biological father died when she was very small, and her mother later married a man who is her step-father. Do you think her step-father's name in our marriage certificate will cause any problem? Should she write a note explaining her situation?


Please help!!....I'm begging u!!

Are you worried because her birth father is on the application? Anyway, I can't say for SURE as I don't work at CIC an don't know anyone with this or equivalent but I'm sure you can write a letter to explain (be sure to include your name and file number on it). I really don't see this being a big deal or an issue. I know how easy it is to get into a panic. Don't worry.

Order gcms notes here. It takes 30 calendar days and costs $5 if the Canadian applies on behalf of the applicant. A permission form must be filled out by the applicant each time. You can apply for the note every three or four months or so to see what's going on and track your file. Apply on line and attach the permission slip as an upload

Here is the link for you to check your status online... however it isn't very reliable
Best to wait a few more months and then order your GCMS notes which the link has already been provided

22 Months from application filed date...after so much waiting..my wifes Ecas Shows "Decision Made"

VFS notified that her passport has been dispatched..

Safe to say its good news ? i guess.... Ecas changed on Jan1st 2014 lol

I think the OP is inquiring about ECAS...

I respectfully disagree. Not about it being too soon, it probably is a little too soon, but about the info being sought. Singapore received the application four months ago. ECAS will only show that the application has been received, and we already know this. Until it goes 'in process' which won't be for a long time.
On my notes there was an initial review done fairly early on in the process, and it does show the progress of the file. How often you want to apply is another thing. The point is, whether or not one wants to wait til a year in or whatever, ECAS won't tell you anything til the last stretch.
I will check my notes to see at what point the initial review was done on mine and get back.

Hi spacely84, so my initial written review was done 9 months after the file was received by Singapore. Sometimes it's faster, and I'm sure it can be slower too. When you decide to order them is up to youbut the progress of your file as it gets shuffled around is in the notes. If and when you do decide to get tthem, be sure to double check that all your information, addressees etc. have been transferred correctly from your application.
Cndmom is right though, get friendly with patience. Checking your ecas every couple of weeks will make you crazy. Mine read 'application received' for over 25 months. You won't see the progress there.

GCMS notes is your file that cic makes wrt your application that you can access through the freedom of information act.. Unfortunately it won't tell you if you forgot something although it might be mentioned when they do the initial review. If they need something from you they'll let you know.
I understand that fear. I must have delayed my application for two months and when I went to mail it it was like handing over my baby and it took everything in me not to rip it open and 'double' check it again. I think you have to trust yourself and try to forget about it.
The notes are a little dry but not too hard to decipher. Try googling sample notes or you can just see when you get them. It only really gets interesting after they do a written review which they put at the end to keep you in suspense. the good news is they're only $5, the link I posted is to where you can click to apply online (fillable form) and it's pretty easy. The only pain in the ass is the permission form if your spouse is on the other side of the world. Mine printed filled and scanned it then sent it back as a too big attachment that I had to screenshot to get the file small enough to upload. This would have been much easier if my husband were a little more tech savvywith his smartphone, but never mind. try to hold out for another few months.
The good thing is you get to see what they're thinking from the review, if they seem satisfied with your application and there by feel at ease our send them more.

Hey members! have some news.. my wife received her passport with PR visa today

For future reference for present and future member i am posting a detailed timeline. Hope this helps:

Application filed: 2nd Feb 2012
Sponsors eligibility approval: 16th May 2012

(note: during the period i applied CIC mississauga's timeline was 91 days..which is now 28..unlucky unlucky sigh !!)

First stage approval timeline: 3.5 months

Following is singpore VO timeline: Details from gCMs notes

Application reached Singapore VO: 18th June 2012 (Ecas: Application Received)
Initial review: 9th Sep 2012 ( Recommend Passed, Vo comments: Straight forward file no concerns)
File transfered for final review: 10th october 2012
Ecas : In process : November 15th 2013 ( file sat on desk for 13 months. Note: This is not the case all time. It depends on luck and visa officer. some officer will take advantage of timeline posted on web, some wont. In my case unlucky again lol)
Remed/Passport/Police cert request: November 22nd 2013
Documents sent: Dec 9th 2013
Decision Made: Jan1st 2014
Passport received: Jan 6th 2014

Total singapore processing time: 19 months

Overall timeline : first + second stage : 22.5 months
