hi benstu,
my husband sponsoring me.he lives in ontario,mississuaga..as u said to ask for invitation from mayor, will he or she give after asking??

You may ask. There is nothing to loose.

However, I think that, it all depends on the visa officer in Singapore. The document checklist of the TRV does not asks for any additional document and the visa officer is not obliged to read any other document. Most important things are 1) At what stage the immigration application is (if it will take more time to make a officer and there is nothing negative regarding sponsor/applicant, then the visa officer may approve it. But, if the visa officer notes that the immigration file may move soon, the the TRV visa may not be granted) 2) The financial/ employment strength of the Sponsor who is in Canada 3) The strength of family relationship of the applicant in the home country

Of course there are exceptions and all depends on the visa officer.

A few observations.

1) For those whose file has been in Singapore for more then 6 months (that is whose spouse's application is in SVO): I suggest to prepare and send a TRV application. Most likely, it will be refused (except for a few). But, your spouse's TRV application may prompt the TRV visa officer to speak to the visa officer who is handling the immigration application. (Note: I don't suggest this for those whose application is in SVO for less then 6 months as it may not serve the purpose)

2) If the Sponsor visits the spouse in the home country to be with his/her spouse, then after the travel, I would suggest to send the proof of travel (plane ticket, pictures taken etc.) to SVO as additional supporting documents.

3) Get GCMS notes if no response within 6 months after file is in Singapore. If you apply for GCMS notes too early, you may not learn if there is anything wrong with the application as someone may not have looked at it anyway.

4) Don't get stressed-out. This will effect your communication with your spouse.

5) Share your thoughts, timelines, suggestions, questions in the forum

@Fortune89, AKHI and et el:

My wife applied for TRV in June. I send a notarized invitation letter along with a letter from my employer & a bank statement. My wife gave a letter from her employer in Dhaka and her bank statement in Dhaka. The TRV was not approved based on the reason that the visa officer thinks she doesn't have strong base to return back to Dhaka. She got the decision from Singapore about the TRV within 3 weeks after sending the application via VFS.

However, after the refusal of the TRV, her immigration file is moving along. It could be a coincident or not.

seems like there's no updates for sgvo for this 2 weeks? sgvo staff went for summer vacation? the office would be close next week so i doubt we will hear from them next week....it's holidays for Singapore on the 8th and 9th next week.

To Fortune89 : my ecas still shows application received.

Hi Torontoguy

Do they have to live appart by choice or because the immigration won't let them live together AND apply at the same time?
I live in Vietnam because my husband can't get a touristic visa (like so many other people) but I can't wait to be back with him after 3 years away from home!
Good luck to all of you

Hi quebecvietnam,

You can live with your spouse in Vietnam; you just have to prove to the visa officer that you'll move back to Canada permanently once the application is approved (My situation is different so unfortunately I can't advice you on how to prove this)

In most cases, the sponsor lives in Canada and the sponsored spouse lives in his/her home country (e.g Vietnam, Bangladesh, Malaysia, etc). It's extremely rare for a sponsored spouse to get approved for a TRV, so the couple has no choice but to live apart while the spousal sponsorship application gets processed......

hi goodman,
afrose tried twice for trv but she got refused..this is 24 month running for her since she submitted her application for pr.poor grl..n 19 month going for me :'( :'(

hey guys, i just got my gcms notes, seems like someone has touched it since jan 2013 then few more agents have also looked at it. I applied for Spouse TRV in June 24, 2013 we submitted it in Bangladesh VFS...My wife got a letter from them in July 17 2013... they refused her...i was so confident that she will get accepted. as i am a Canadian citizen and employed...and she is also employed in Bangladesh and i stressed the fact that 26 months is ridiculous and will bring stress in my marriage. I also mentioned that i can not go to bangladesh until next year because of work related conflict. but they are a*** anyways i took the matter to my MP. and i wrote a letter to the immigration minister CC the MP...lets see what the MP does..

hey bangla,
let us know that wht ur mp did after that?? keep updating on trv issue...

Hi Smahmud,

How's about due date? This date is not very important but you can know when they start to inprocess your file. As your gcms, interview recommend waived is very good, I guess they will contact you soon to do remedical or something like that.
