Hi all, the information on this forum is very helpful and helped me come to a peace of mind LOL. Now I want to share my experience with the rest of you...

I'm a Canadian living outside of Canada for 9 years. My wife and I married 9 years ago and have been living together for the past 9 years in Vietnam with two kids, a 4 years old son and a 2 years old daughter. Below is my timeline so far...

May 26/12 - I sended our application out to CIC in Mississauga
August 8/12 - received an email from CIC notifying me that they've received my application on June 11/2012, the letter contains a UCI case # which you may use to check your status online on the CIC website.
August 13/12 - received an email from CIC notifying me that my application as the sponsor has been approved, and that my wife's application for permanent resident is send to the visa office aboard which is in Singapore.
TODAY August 28/12 - I log on to the CIC website daily to check our application, and right now under my wife's permanent residence applications status is "application received".

From what I've read on this forum, it usually takes anywhere from 4 to 8 months for the permanent residence application.
Wish me luck, and I'll update as soon as I get more good new.

Can anybody please tell me how long does it take to get the passport back if it was sent through VFS? My husband submittted his passport to VFS on Aug 09, 2012 for onward submission to SVO. Singapore visa office received his passport on Aug 19, 2012. How long it might take from Aug 19, 2012 to get the passport back ? Do they update Ecas by saying "Decision Made"after stamping the visa? As per instructions in their letter, we waited for 2 weeks after RE-MED and then submitted the passport but as of today, there is no change in ECas and showing the same message (Medical results have been received) which has been there ever since we submitted our sponsorship application to Mississauga. Will he be able to fly with me in the first week of September on my way back to Canada??????? :(
Thanks.

I think shaheenaz you should be happy that your husband's passport has been requested already. I applied the same time as you but I've no idea when will my turn come as its still in process. So, don't get upset even if your hubby can't make it first week of september. I mean if not september, he'll be with you withing a month or so inshaAllah. So, cheer up! ;D

Thanks. Please get in touch with SVO and find out what's causing the delay. Talk to your local MP and find out the cause. Good luck to you and hope your waiting will be over soon.

I don't know why but yes, according to the instructions mentioned in their letter, you have to wait for two weeks after the MED and that's what my husband did. He waited for two weeks after the RE-MED and then submitted the docs to VFS.
