So sorry to hear about this. Are you both in Indonesia ? Maybe you can check the Vietnamese forum here because some of them had the experience of waiting for interview or had done their interview. You can also request for GCMS notes. Sorry can't really help much.
Hey, thanks for replying- I'm currently in montreal, she's in Indonesia. I've checked not really any indication or anything. What do you mean by GCMS notes and how can I request that? Is it certain for 24 months or has there been cases where that is overturned or decision being taken back??

They can't honestly expect people to be away as HUSBAND AND WIFE for 2 years, heartless...

If you order GCMS notes, you can see why you need the interview. Sometimes there are red flags that they see and want to clarify. Here is the link
https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/
You can read about it here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-personal.asp

Hope this help. Good luck!

Singapore Citizen Timeline

Hello members, thank you for sharing your information and help others like me make a decision.

I am Canadian, my wife is Singaporean and we are thinking if we should do an in-land application vs from Singapore.

Singapore has a wait time of 30 months, but that is because of applications from various countries.
As you are all aware the inland is approximately the same time now, only benefit is she is here with me (which she can do even with outland because she's visa exempt) and that she can get a work visa (although people say it will take long for that).

Question: Is there any Singaporean citizens who have done a spousal immigration application in 2014/2015 out land (from Singapore) and can you tell me how long it took you? The excel spreadsheet doesn't show peoples citizenship so hard to say.

I really appreciate your help as I decide what to do. My wife is here now so have to make a decision rather quickly.

Hi

I think that you better off doing outland. So far I found on the spreadsheet this info about an applicant by the nick name Karen Ong and she's from Singapore. Her timeline is applied in June 2014 and received COPR in Dec 2014. So it's pretty quick. I think she's also living with her husband in Canada but return to Singapore to give her passport. It took about 1 month plus for her to get her passport back with COPR with it.

I'm from Malaysia and not from a visa exempt country. If I have a choice I will do it outland and move or technically 'visiting' Canada while waiting for my application. I'm lucky because my husband and kids are here with me so there's no hurry on when we're going to Canada. I hope I can get approve before the school start this Sept...keep my fingers crossed! If not, then it's ok since we're still together here.

Hopefully that's gonna help a bit in your decision making. By only looking at the spreadsheet I think that there are not a lot of applicants but then maybe not everyone is entering their data on the spreadsheet. Good luck!

Thanks a lot Mazleen, I was thinking the same that it seems that it might be done earlier than the stated 30 month wait. Inland has restrictions even with getting an open work permit so I am definitely leaning towards outland. Please tell me how things go on your end, hopefully sooner than later!

Hi Dream1429,

Could you please confirm the date you sent out your application? Is it January 2, 2015 or October 15, 2014? I just based that on your pervious post on the October thread. CIC received my app on January 5, 2015 and our status is still 'application received' and we haven't got any AOR2 from SVO too. So i'm kinda worried.

It would be very helpful for me to know your timeline since we are only few here in Singapore VO.

Thanks and Congrats on the new updates :)
