Correlation does not imply causation - these are anecdotal and do not specify a change in policy that the 'evil Harper' government imposed to increase wait times.Taycaoco said:Under the Liberals, all my friends and the friends of my parents who wed Vietnamese people, the waiting were 6-8 months (including the interview) maximum and the fastest time were 3 months (my cousin).
So yes, the Conservatives are trying to heavily reduce the immigration from what they call 3rd world countries. Sorry for my bad English, I'm a Francophone from Quebec.
There are many factors outside the CPC being in power that led to this such as
Downturn in the world economy leading to less tax base leading to less jobs in government but more economic migration
An increase in marriage fraud cases from Vietnam over the past
An increase in applicants from other countries that apply through Singapore VO without increase in VO staff (or decrease in staff)
I voted Liberal in the last election but I don't see where bashing the current government is relevant with out direct citing of policy changes they implemented to CIC.
In fact I am currently sponsoring my wife from Vietnam and I was process through CPC Mississauga within 40 days (after an initial screw up with the paperwork)
I also know of a few friends who had their spouses sponsored from start to finish in 9 months (one even 6 months recently).
I also know of a case where it took over 3 years and an appeal. In this case my uncles friend's son was much older then his wife, didn't know her very long before marrying, had no job and was on welfare for a time (so you can see where the case got held up at several points)
So unless there is a set of policies that someone here can name I think the political bashing is just personal views bleeding into how facts are viewed.
once again - Correlation does not imply causation
