SIN

Hello,

My husband landed as a Permanent Resident in January. We went in- person to Service Canada to apply for his SIN. We were told it would be mailed to us in two weeks. It has been 4 weeks and we still haven't received this document. Has this happened to anyone else? How long does it take for a person who just landed to receive their SIN? I look forward to feedback? Thank you!

I landed last month and went into Service Canada the very next day. I was given the SIN right there, took about 10 minutes of sitting with the agent and providing her whatever information she needed. Did they tell him why it would be mailed instead of providing it immediately?

Thank you for your reply! The agent at service Canada wasn't able to print his SIN and we were told that they have to process his document. We also called and we were told the same thing, not quite sure what that processing procedure involves or it's meaning. Thanks!
