Hi every one. I have kind a confusing situation. I got my study permit which doesn't allow me to work. Recently I went to Canada Service to get information if I'm legible to apply for SIN. Guy there said that I have to call to Immigration and Citizenship and ask them to send me a new study permit which will allow me to work. So I called them and they said to complete a form called
•Request to Amend the Record of Landing, Confirmation of Permanent Residence or Valid Temporary Resident documents [IMM 1436]
and attach original study permit with that form. Which is confusing, cause they could loose that and I kind worried.
So I don't know what to do. Also, I'm enrolled in program with co-op option, and as far as I understood I have to get SIN number in order to work as part of co-op program.
So I am not certain about next actions ???

As for me, I didnt know that my study permit does not allow work for part time during each study term. I got some information from some people. They told me that filled out the imm1436 and bring my acceptance letter. And then go to border or airport. I am not sure they are right or wrong.

What "some people" do you mean? I live in Toronto, may be I can obtain a new study permit not sending documents to Ottawa? :)
