SIN CARD & PRTD ISSUES

Greetings,

I have received my COPR and will be travelling to Toronto from Dubai on a short trip (4-5 days) my questions are:

1) I understand that i can be given the SIN number from Canadian Service Center within an hour. But what about my SIN card? because i read it somewhere it takes around 10 days for SIN card to be mailed. By then i wont be in the country

2) Will there be any complications in applying for PRTD if i am unable to receive my my PR?

3) How long is the PRTD valid for once issued? and how long does it usually takes to get PRTD?

4) A most common issue for delay in PR card is that the photographs do no match the requirements. THe email states that if photograph is not received in 30 days the application is cancelled. Is this the PR card application or the PR status?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

1. Service Canada stopped issuing SIN cards. All you get is a confirmation letter for your SIN during your visit.
2-3. Your main issue is that your trip is very short. You can't apply for PRTD from within Canada and you will have to apply from UAE and the processing time is more than the 4-5 days of your trip.
4. The PR card NOT your PR status.

1) It's instantaneous. You get it then and there.

2) You can only apply for a PRTD outside Canada. As a new PR you are entitled to a PRTD as matter of law. You application cannot be denied, you have a right to a PRTD. Simply put, there will be no problem.

3) 6 months and 1 entry. Once in Canada you're supposed to get a PR card. Apply 2 months before you want to return to stay safe, but usually you should get it in a couple of weeks.

4) You become a PR upon entry to Canada with your PR visa. Once you get the PR status it stays with you for life unless it's revoked by a immigration tribunal. They will only consider the PR card application abandoned, but you will still be a PR.

Service Canada only give you a piece of paper with you sin number on it....no card.

Do you have an actual PR card? There is no need for a PRTD if you have a PR card. Have you landed? Did you land as single? When did you get married?

My PR card is in Toronto , I am in India now. I landed as single now I am travelling back however married.

Otherwise, you can have a friend courier the PR card to you from Toronto.

Courier is fine. Done all the time. Will simplify your life. Make sure there is tracking.

Could you please guide on how you applied and what documents did you provided them with

PRTD Application Form, Family information Form, COPR, SIN Document, Onward flight tkt, letter from current employer, Passport Copy, Cover letter with all reasons for issue of PRTD.
