Silly question but need confirmation

While applying for the study permit online, I am unable to fill the forms online directly. I can only see the form once it is downloaded. Can I fill the form validate (and get a barcode) and upload the form at the upload option ? Is it the normal process or is it done online on the website it self without downloading and uploading? Can someone please guide me the process?
Also, for some forms I am unable to type at the space given for signature, should those forms be printed, scanned and uploaded?

My comments:

1. I downloaded all the forms, validated the ones that allowed me to do so and then, uploaded them with the bar code. Just make sure you open them and edit them with Adobe and then save them and upload them. If you try and print them as PDF's, the system won't allow you to upload them.

2. I do remember printing some forms to sign them and then uploading the scanned copy.
