I'm going to sponsor my husband to come over from America. I'm waiting on my marriage license to come in. Now currently they only ask for a birth certificate and passport as ID in the application (correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't see driver's license requested) Obviously those are staying in my maiden last name. However am I allowed to fill out the application with my married last name?

Thank you

You must enter your name exactly as it is on your passport.

If you get a new passport with your married name during the process, you can update IRCC.

So on IMM 5532 I have to put my actual name as appearing on my passport, but on IMM 1344 it asks family name...then family name before marriage. That is the only time I can mention both last names?

On IMM1344, it states right in the question that you must put your family name as shown on your passport. You can list your married name in the "Other name" question.

Okay, sorry I was just confused is all. It says on IMM 1344 (I'm looking at it) Family name, family name before marriage, and given name. I figured I could put my married name in family name, then my maiden name in before marriage. However basically you're stating in all of these documents as the sponsor unless it's changed on my passport or birth certificate, I'm simply to leave it at my maiden.

Yes. This is how I did it because all of my ID, passport, birth certificate, etc. are in my maiden name, which is also still my legal name even though I am married.
