Hello,
My wife is Japanese and her signature on her passport is in kanji (chinese characters), but today at the medical check they asked her to sign in letters. We were wondereing if she has to sign the immigration forms in letters or the same as her passport's signature (kanji)?
Or they dont care about that?
Thanks

I think if your filling out the forms in Engish then make the signature english. So print in English

I'd also like to know the answer to this.
Surely there are people here using languages with other 'alphabets'.

Kaonashi, what did you end up doing?

My wife's signature on her passport is in kanji as well, but it just so happened that she wanted to change her signature to her alphabetized romaji name a while before her application, so we never encountered this problem when she did her medical. I really don't know why it would be problem, because most signatures are illegible anyway. Now I'm wondering if it'll be a problem that her application signature differs from her passport signature.

Let me know if there are any questions I can try to answer for you, since we're in similar boats, trying to sponsor Japanese citizens. Good luck!
