Signature on the application. Must they be originals or scanned copies are fine

So, on the sponsorship agreement and on the IMM0008, the sponsored person must sign.

The problem is that the person resides overseas.

Should the person just sign the application, and scan it, and send it like that to me, or must I have an original copy (i.e. the person signs and then sends by mail/courier) that I have to attach?

If a scanned copy of the signature is acceptable, is it perhaps better to have an original signature?

If a scanned copy of the signature is not acceptable or acceptable, then in what manual is that requirement written (i.e. where)

Thank you!

I understand the problem (with all this technology in 2016 why not scan it to make our life easier, right?) but since the application is not available to us to complete as an online application and only as a paper application this suggests they want an original copy, not one with a scanned signature.

Otherwise, they would have made the application form available to us online this way we can provide our electronic signature.

I copy/pasted the link from CIC's website on top for you to see their instructions, the title on that page is: How to use the application form

Original signature is needed. You'll need to courier / mail the documents overseas to be signed and then courier / mail them back to submit.

How about the documents? I.e. translations after the emails, etc.

So, I have them translated by an official translator and then notarized.

Do I need to attach the original documents after these translations? Or photocopies would do.

Problem is here that the documents are format A4, and the application and the rest are letter.

Agree with the original signature part. But OP does not have to send the form to PA. The PA can make the print, sign the form, courier it to OP and he can sign when he receives it. Saves time for one side courier.

As for the proof of relationship documents photocopies are without a doubt acceptable.

CIC won't care about a slight difference in paper size. Our application was half in A4 and half in letter. Just make sure the forms print out correctly (no weird cut-offs) and you're fine.
