Are there any legal issues to have side hustle contract incomes while you are on a closed work permit in Canada?

I'm thinking of two options:
1. Freelancing opportunities through Upwork or similar platforms
2. Hourly-based consultancy contracts with some companies that needs my specialization

So you can’t work for any Canadian clients and any companies that have do business or have offices in Canada.

All good to do as long as it doesn't involve Canadian companies or customers.

You can work remotely for a person or company that is not in, nor has a presence in, Canada. You also cannot be remunerated in Canadian funds.

In our increasingly globalized and digitized world, perhaps the most important work permit exemption is for remote work. Canada's immigration department allows visitors to Canada to perform long-distance (by telephone or internet) work if their employer is outside Canada and they are remunerated from outside Canada.
