Hi,

my sisters is a PR holder of Canada but her PR card validity has expired and she has applied for extension, the extension is currently under process and she is living in Canada and can provided me with utility bills, bank documents etc.
Since her PR card is expired, will I be able to get the 15 points?

Hi - It is my understanding that the PR card is not synonymous with PR Status. Your card may expire, while you are still a permanent resident. With that being said, I would assume that as long as her PR status is not in question (meaning she has fulfilled all requirement to maintain PR status), that you would still be able to claim your 15 points. If that is the case, the question now is what document will you require to prove her PR status. I am assuming her Record of Landing Document would suffice. She might need to inquire on her end.

Again, this is based on my understanding of PR Status. Maybe others in the forum can correct or confirm.

She does have acknowledgement receipt of her PR card extension.
Do you think might be enough along with be utility bills and bank statement ?

It would be good to provide employment records and/or tax returns as well.

Utility bills and bank statements don't really prove someone is living in Canada.

I am not really familiar with the acknowledgement receipt and how much weight it has as far as proof of PR Status goes. However, she should have her COPR/Record of Landing Document (IMM1000). That is the only document that I know is interchangeable with the PR card.

Is not working in Canada right now, but she can give me her credit card statement with her current address.

She can provide me with the landing documents. She is being living in Canada for over 3 yrs.

Hi... I am in the same situation... what did you do at that time?
