Should we postpone our Oath? Canada and India Diplomatic Row

So, we have our Oath Ceremony scheduled on October 4th, 2023. And, after the Oath we have booked tickets to visit our family in India on Canadian Passports.

Now, due to the recent diplomatic row between Canada's and India's relationship, India just announced that it has suspended visa services for Canadians until further notice (article below).

We were wondering if it would be a wise decision to postpone our Oath Ceremony and travel to India on our Indian Passports and request the Oath to be rescheduled to sometime in the future after we are back from India?

Plus, there is also a possibility where Canada could suspend entry/exit to Canada for Indian Nationals (like a tit for tat) and it could put our entry in Canada in jeopardy.

Just a note, our visit to India is not an "urgent" visit, it is just a usual family visit.

Looking for suggestions and recommendations.

Canada will never deny entry to PRs. So re-entering Canada will not be an issue if you decide to postpone your oath.

Thank you for your response.

The worry that I have is, technically, I am still an Indian Citizen, while on a PR and if Canada can still deny entry based on one's "original nationality"?

You have the right to enter Canada as a PR. Zero chance Canada would deny entry to PRs.

I suggest completing your oath ceremony and consider postponing your trip to India. My reasoning for this recommendation is that your application appears to be processing relatively quickly. If Canada were to reciprocate in response to any future developments, it could potentially result in delays for future Indian applicants. If your ultimate goal is to become a Canadian citizen, it might be wise to proceed with the process now. Diplomatic situations between countries are rarely permanent and are bound to be resolved eventually. Good luck!

@kadir.ayubi I saw your post and wanted to suggest not to postpone because you know how IRCC is with regards to rescheduling. It can take months, but its all up to you. I wouldn’t reschedule to be honest, but it’s a decision you have to make
