Should we pay taxes for income earned outside while not living in Canada ?

Hi,

We landed in Quebec in April 2016, stayed for 15 days and returned to our country. We came back to Quebec in August 2018 permanently.

Do we have to pay taxes for the year (April 2016 to April 2018), when we didn't reside in Quebec ?

General rule of thumb: If you didn't make any money in Canada while you were away then you don't need to pay taxes. Only exception being significant residential ties like spouse/dependents staying behind in Canada, property in Canada etc.

Are you asking for some credits? In some cases, they require past tax returns to determine the eligible amount.
