Should I withdraw my application and apply again from scratch?

I am hearing that 2021 and later applicants are being processed very quickly, often in less than 12 months. I have been in processing for 18 months now (Aug 2020 applicant) and it has been only 4 months since my BG check was completed with citizenship test not even started. Would it be a good idea to withdraw application and then apply again? It would give me a chance of being processed in 9-12 months, rather than the additional 1.5+ years that many 2019 applicants are going through.

Withdrawing your application is also a very long process.

In my opinion, it’s a very risky thing to attempt because we don’t know what the reason for your delay is. And who is to say that after you withdraw they would have started to process your case more expeditiously?

I am also getting a little impatient. I applied on June 9th ‘21, BG check completed on November 9th, and I still haven’t received a test invite, while people from July and August are getting theirs. It’s the luck of the draw. I would attempt to follow up with them first, if at all possible. It’s really frustrating…

You're right. I'll just live my life and get on with it. At most, to 'ping' my application, I will send them updates if I get a new driver's license, or travel outside Canada, etc. maybe that will get someone to look at it.

Sounds like a plan and a clever strategy. It’s like “bumping” an old thread on an online forum. Some people complain, others are happy, but everyone has to look at it and eventually someone has to respond. :D

PS: I am sure they will get to us very soon. The pandemic hasn’t helped in processing times.

Applicants from 2021 : So much delay from IRCC

Applicants from 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 : Hold my beer

If you scroll through the forum, you will find plenty of applicants from 3-4 years ago who are still awaiting DM and/or Oath. While the delays from IRCC cannot be condoned, a little patience would probably help your own sanity. NO ONE really knows the order / process and what is causing the delay with each application.

Don't do it. I know this has been frustrating, but it would be too risky to withdraw the application and re-apply based on the few anecdotes that the newer submissions get processed faster.

I have first-hand experience. I applied March 2020, received AOR August 2020, processing started October 2020, background completed in January 2021, nothing after that. Sent a withdrawal request in June 2021. Sent another withdrawal request in September 2021. I could see in GCMS notes that they received the withdrawal request and added it to my file back in June, but it was not withdrawn yet. In October 2021, everything including the Oath in the new tracker became In Progress, and then ECAS showed Withdrawn. I applied again, received AOR, but now I cannot even track my new application because the online tracker is still registered to my old application and there is no way to de-register! The system is broken, your withdrawal request will not even be processed until they start working on your application for the next stage. Do not withdraw.
