HI i submitted my inland application in May 2014, got AOR in Aug 2014. I also worked in Canada for a few years after I graduated from a canadian university, and I am still working now. I just received my owp from the family sponsorship owp pilot project. I am wondering if I can and should submit my profile in express entry category to speed up my process? I don't have LMIA, but I have a formal full-time job with a owp.

I'm not sure this will speed up the process for you. You won't be classified as someone with a job offer for EE purposes since you don't have an LMIA.

Thank you Scylla! I don't need a LMIA to take on any job since I have a owp. my position is professional or managerial position.

Doesn't matter. To get the extra 600 points for Express Entry (and have a very high chance of being selected) you need an LMIA.

Hi scylla, I called cic today, the agent told me over the phone I can submit my profile through Express entry; I clarified that I don't have a LMIA, she said I don't need it since I have an opw. but I don't think I should totally believe her; you must have some solid reference to support your answer. could you please tell me where you got the information that indicates the 600 points on arranged employment in EE is for LMIA only? if so, I won't waste my time/money to write the silly test. thank you!

You don't NEED an LMIA to create a profile, go into the pool and possibly be selected. But to gain the 600 points for 'Arranged Employment' you must have an LMIA, otherwise you don't get the additional points.

The only time the employer making you the offer does not need to get a new LMIA is when you are already working for them with a work permit that is based on an LMIA.

Exactly. Again, without an LMIA you don't get the extra 600 arranged employment points. These 600 additional points would have boosted you ahead of other candidates significantly. Without these points, I would be tempted to forget about EE and stick with spousal sponsorship (which I believe was your original question).

Thank you Scylla and doubly! you are correct! I talked to CIC again this morning and sounds like I could submit my profile in canadian experience class under EE; for that class, there is no arranged employment. so I won't get 600 points.

I am still struggling if I should submit my profile; I am currently an family sponsorship class applicant, but that class is taking too long now…. hope I can see the first EE draw result here soon in the end of the month, which may be the last piece of support for submitting my profile in EE.

I am so happy that I found this website. information here are extremely helpful and it's nice to see other people are on the same boat; I don't feel just by myself anymore. thanks everyone for sharing your information here!
