Hi all I'm drafting my LOE and hope I can keep it to less than the 4KB requirement including attachments. If not is it wise to file the E-APR and then immediately file a Case Specific Enquiry attaching additional supplementary documentation to supplement the LOE?

Thanks for all your responses.

I thought you can attach only 1 document. I just tried it and it says that attaching another document overwrites the 1st document.

Please tell me how to attach multiple documents.

I faced the same issue where my document size was more than 4mb. I converted it to pdf and used http://smallpdf.com/compress-pdf site to compress the pdf online. You may try this option.

I think some people were attaching separate LoEs for each section, like, a LoE for education, together with education documents, a LoE for PoF, with the PoF, etc.

Oh, ok: so, as far as I remember, you can only submit one file in any field of the post-ITA form, you'll probably face that problem not only with the LoE, but with all documents.
So the thing to do is to create a single pdf file containing all the documents that you want to submit in each section. I was doing that with the little program I found on the Web called "PDF Split and Merge basic". You can probably do it with Adobe Reader, too, if you have an advanced enough license. Or there might be some online services.
You'll be adding all the documents you want to merge (including a LoE, if necessary), and the program/service will create a single multi-page pdf for you. (The initial documents you're adding have to be in pdf format, too.)

Upd: If you'll be using the program I did, note that you have to add the files you're merging in the order you want them to appear in the final pdf. Hope this helps!

It's most definitely not advised. Whether documents sent via CSE get added to your file is subject to the discretion of the person processing that CSE.
So try submitting everything at once.
See the other comments about combining multiple PDF documents into 1 file. Use programs to compress the file, if necessary. It's definitely doable.

I'm afraid you're sharing incorrect information, I tried it myself.

Upload a file
File previously selected for upload- XXXXX.pdf
Document Name - Letter of Explanation (required) - MY NAME
Help

Uploading this file will replace the one submitted previously. Do you wish to continue?

Please verify the info yourself before you share it as it could mislead others.

Hi JoacRy, I'm in the process of collecting and scanning documents myself. I'm actually doing it right now and it's kinda fun ;D
It's also a bit funny to see someone else struggling with technology. Luckily I'm an IT person :D

Use this to merge separate PDF files into a single PDF file: http://www.pdfmerge.com/

This one to convert JPEG images to PDF files: http://www.convert-jpg-to-pdf.net/

And this one to convert PDF files to JPEG images:http://pdf2jpg.net/
(e.g. a PDF file with 30 pages equals 30 images)

The more files and bigger the file sizes, the longer everything takes.

For me since it's only possible to upload 1 PDF even in the LOE section, I collated all my LOEs and put it into one PDF file then put a note at the beginning "combined LOEs for supporting documents blah blah"

PM me if you need more info. :)

under loe field when I was done uploading one document. there was another button below it to upload another document. I thought that is for uploading another document. I did not know that ll replace already uploaded one. but the way it is there, that surely look like another document upload button.

if.you are not able to resolve it yet. try scanning your documents to lower dpi ration. that ll reduce the size of your PDF. like in 100 dpi scan you can easily upload 40 text documents.

Actually, 4MB is quite a lot. I do work with computers and I added a tonne of documents with my LOE. I am a CEC applicant and although I was not required to add these documents, I still went ahead and added them so that the visa officer could corroborate my history with the documents:

1) LOE
2) My previous work related letters that I didn't add with the reference letters since I didn't claim points from them.
3) 6 months of my bank statements, T4's and NOA.
4) Education Documents that I didn't claim points for
5) Educational documents of my wife that she didn't claim points for
6) Work experience letters of my wife (she didn't claim points for them either)

In the LOE, I clearly mentioned to the visa officer that although these documents were not required, we still added them so that he could be satisfied that we are genuine candidates. I created a single PDF and added all of them into a single file and then through adobe acrobat, I compressed everything under 4 MB.

If your documents contain sensitive information, you might want to use Acrobat reader Pro or Foxit Phantom, both can reduce your pdf size. If you do not have such programs, ask someone who has to do it for you.

Good luck,
