Should I renew my study permit?

Hi,

I could finish all my university courses at 2014 mid-July. But my diploma would be sent out at 2014 mid-October. And my study permit expires at 2014 August.

Should I still renew my study permit although I finished all my degree requirement by that time (Because by that time, I still don't have diploma, diploma is sent out at October 2014)

Any advice?

Hi aboluo1981,

In my opinion, if your study permit is expiring on August 31st, you should apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) after the completion of your courses. If your diploma is of minimum 2 years duration, you can apply for a PGWP. You have to get a Letter of Attendance from the International Office as soon as your result will come out.

Based on that letter, you can apply for PGWP. Remember, you always have to be in a legal proper status while living here in Canada. You can find the name of your institute in this list of participating institutes:
