Should I include Original Birth certificate?

Here, part 3 of the region specific application for INDIA:

In the document checklist, 2. Identity and Civil status documents

This says that we need to include the original birth certificate/voters id card/ old school records?
Are photocopies ok??
I am confused!!
wil we get the birth certificate back if we send it in with the application?

•Send originals of the immigration forms (item 1) and police certificates.
•Send photocopies of all other documents, unless instructed otherwise.

It doesn't say to include original birth certificate so I would only send a photocopy.

i dont think they mail u anything back... except for the passport with the visa (to the applicant)

i just checked, even my visa photocopies are inside the large brown envelope and the CPR, which has to be signed at landing, and if anyone has included letters or email copies, they too will be returned

they were sent to me ,sponsored person. If you have a inland application with 2 address im not sure were they would send it

Sometimes they mail things back and sometimes they don't. It depends on the visa office and the visa officer.
It sounds like you have to send the original birth certificate for children in India.
