Hello everyone,
Need some thoughts/opinions for question I have. I bought Mazda Cx5 2022 model last year. I am making a move work permit to Ottawa in couple of months. what would you prefer of below?
  1. Sell car in USA (not taking a lot of hit surprisingly), buy new one in Canada and avoid the Hassel of exporting. But in this case I will pay more to purchase new car in Canada due to rising costs. Taking loan won't be issue as I might not end of taking a big loan.
  2. Export car from USA, temporary import in Canada for now (so avoid on GST+Import+PST taxes), and when I get PR I do permanent import in Canada. On PR you pay no taxes. Correct if this assumption is not okay. Good thing is I have no taxes (assumption) and also no need to buy new Car as in option 1. Downside here will be I can't sell my car until I get PR as I will have to permanently import it once I get PR.
  3. Export car from USA, permanent import in Canada (pay GST+Import+PST as I am on temporary visa, need to pay). Good thing here is I can sell my car in case if emergency arise, I don't pay hiked up price to buy new car as in option 1, and have car on Day 1 I arrive in Canada. Downside here will be I pay almost 19% taxes to import in Canada.

1. Have you taken into account the fact that the CAD is hovering ~ 0.74 to the USD? That, in and of itself, could make this is a great option. It also eliminates the myriad of hoops to have to jump through with the process of importing your vehicle.
