Should I get a BOWP? 17 days left on Work Visa! PPR Stage.

I received the PPR email today. My current work visa is expiring this month, November 23rd. I will be mailing off the photo's, passport bio page scan, and Annex A document on Monday Nov 6th. I have no idea how long the rest of this process will take, or when I'll legally have PR status.. so I think I need to go ahead and apply for a BOWP even if I only need it for a few weeks.. It will be a waste of $250 but I think I'll need to do it.

Can I risk not getting it? I'm currently working in Canada waiting for this PR application to finalize. Thanks!

I am not an expert, but once you apply for a BOWP, you are in implied status which protects your status in Canada. I think it would be safer to spend the money now rather than having a nail-biting experience waiting for the passport to come back.
BTW, A friend of mine recently submitted his passport and he got it back in 2 weeks.

As ranesh_vish mentioned, it is safe option to drop BOWP.
or you can wait until 2 days before of work permit expiry date and submit the application. Don't wait until last day, sometimes BOWP - AOR takes a day or two to be generated.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I'd better just do it. Hopefully if I leave it until 3-4 days out I'll have enough time to withdraw it for a refund before they process it. I sent off my PPR today. How long will it take to get a landing interview once my COPR arrives?
