Should I be printing out all our chat conversations?

I am working on the proof of relationship section in our application now, and have exported all the chat history between my fiancee and I. I have placed it in an excel file. If I print it, it will be over 2,000 pages. This seems kind of ridiculous to me. Is this necessary, or should I try to just focus on taking snippets?

We have over 150,000 messages exchanged and over 1 million words in just over a year of our relationship. Would a high level overview along with monthly sample suffice?

I am thinking there gets to a point where having more info will actually slow down the application since you are forcing the immigration workers to at least glance through mountains of chat logs.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I know the feeling. I have had to purge my Skype logs between my wife and I about a dozen times now. When I spoke to an immigration lawyer, they said they normally just have someone interpret the messages and provide a summary. I am not sure where to find such a service, or what they cost.

My husband and i sent everything for 3 and half years! It was alot! Our package we sent them was huge...the more u send the better...proves your relationship geuine and will deffinatly help to not get an interview ...interviews can slow down the process and you will have to take all your proof to the interview ...this is my husbands second time filing for sponsorship his first marriage didnt work and he had an interview and had to get all his phone records to take to the interview he was a month later denied...so i say the more the better

I do not recommend sending thousands and thousands of pages. A couple of (full) conversations a month are enough. Think of the poor officer opening that huge application. They have to scan the pages as far as I know and a lot of those pages would just go in the shredder.

Quality over quantity, definitely! But make sure to have parts of as many different things as possible. Skype, whatsapp, messenger, Facebook timeline, text messages, letters, cards etc. But 2000 pages? Heck no!

Do not send 2000 pages. From the GCMS notes of others who have sent so much, the VO has just shredded the majority of it.

As said by another poster above, you want quality over quantity. Put together a few messages from each month and add a note that you can supply more if needed.

use this: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/chat-log-minimizer-t399219.0.html

export your entire skype history and run it through the tool. it'll automatically trim your chat log to the first X number of messages from every day, week, or month. once you've minimized your logs, you can reduce the page count even further by pasting it into MS Word and using a two column layout on each page. see this guide for steps on how to do a two column layout: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Create-newsletter-columns-3a00e688-253d-456e-9481-661fdd5b724b

i did all of the above and was able to reduce my log from 3000 pages to just over 150 pages. i checked my gcms notes and it turns out they didn't shred any of it. hope the VO enjoys reading about my wife and i droning on about cute puppies and food all the time.

Quick question...
Did you send a few communications per each month? I also have a 4-year relationship but I am a bit confused on how to provide chat history covering the entire relationship.

If you use whatsapp...I recommend going to the overview and sending that. It tells exactly how many messages, photos, videos sent. I did this and divided by the amount of days we had known each other to show them how many messages per day. I thought there was a limit now if ten pages maximum?

Yes, there is a limit of 10 pages maximum. Someone advised me to show a few regular conversations per month. Will that suffice?

For me I tried to show examples of our relationship. For example, how we would say good morning and good night every day. I suggest showing them consistency. And attach the overview of your whatsapp as I said. It is really helpful for them to see how much you chat and it is convenient having all the stats on one sheet. I printed the summary sheet for each of her family members I regularly spoke with.

Our Watsapp only dates back to 2017. It does not go all the way back to our marriage date. For that, we have facebook messenger chats. After all, we just have to show that we were communicating regularly without missing any month.
