according to cic, it is your responsibility to keep your status legal while application is on process.....

We have no idea when we will receive our OWP. last May, the CIC showed the processing time was 7 months. but the time kept getting longer and longer. In my opinion, It is better to extend the WP, and Health Insurance ,just in case we need them.

oh...i should extend my work permit then...i thought i will be safe coz my application will be a year next month...better safe than sorry then

I thought that once we pass our application for OWP/PR we are considered on implied status. Do we have to extend the existing work permit? Isn't it the same as the application for OWP?

ive read in another thread, that one of the forumers application for extension of his work permit while pr application is on process, upon release of the said pr visa approval, the other application was refunded to him. meaning it is upon the discretion of the cic that they could refund one of your multiple application since they can see your data in their database, you're doing everything just to maintain your legal status.

that is just based on my reading from the successful forumers' experiences....

Hi,

This is confusing.

CIC states that "if you send your OWP and you continue working for the employer mentioned on your current work permit while the application is being processed then you do not have to extend your work permit, even if it expires during the processing of your application for permanent residence."

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5290EA.asp

Based on your readings, is the person under live-in caregiver program? Do all programs the same under this scenario? Sorry, but I am not familiar with other program's guidelines.

i suggest, call the cic phone agent clarifiying this to be sure since every now and then, things keep on updating. better be sure rather than taking the risk with no assurance at all.

im not sure if the forumers is under LICP.
