I had 2 semesters of part-time studies as I was changing programs and after I got accepted into that Program, I was full-time student ever since. After a year or so I got a plagiarism case for a course and I was suspended for a year. During that time, I was not in Canada. Now I have applied for a study permit extension on 27th September and my permit expires on 8th October. In that extension application I have clearly stated my reasons in a letter of explanation along with official documentation from the university.

They have sent me a refusal for my study permit extension on 18th January and given me a voluntary departure form. They gave me the following grounds for rejection :"Your status as a temporary resident has expired. You did not submit an application for extension of your temporary resident status on or before the expiry of the authorized period." I have completed Fall term this year and have begun my Winter term already.

I have sent a reconsideration letter along with confirmation of receipt indicating the date I applied for extension, transcript and letter of explanation, arrival and departure stamps. The reconsideration has reached the IRCC but it is yet to be processed. I also have a voluntary departure on 17th Feb. One lawyer/consultant told me to apply for a TRP(Temporary resident permit) and not to leave Canada as they would most likely not issue a study permit for me again. He told me to stay in Canada drop courses and apply for TRP and then wait for reconsideration and if not granted then apply again. What should I do? I have no time now could anyone inbox me some lawyer or consultant who could talk with me asap. Thanks.

This is a complicated situation and I'm not sure anyone here will be able to give you a clear answer. You would be best off working with an immigration lawyer (not consultant) on your next steps.

Note that TRP processing times are generally very long right now (i.e. over one year). You obviously cannot be working or studying right now since you are now out of status.
